Post Texas

Well, it wasn't what I'd hoped for, but it could have been much worse. This race reminded me of many races last year where they couldn't make the car faster or better during the race for Ryan. It appeared many drivers struggled with this track minus the Roush boys. Couldn't get the balance nor the speed needed.

Congrats to Kenseth on a great race. He was truly the class of the field. Strategy just didn't work out for Tony to pull the spoiler roll.

I'm hoping for a much better finish for Ryan and Tony at Talladega!

I'm hoping for a better result, too, but Dega scares me. Anything can happen.

Re: Post Texas

there was something wrong with the front end of Ryans car (Ryan felt) He said it didnt matter what adjustments were made it wasnt doing anything to the car. At the end of the race Ryan asked for the CC to go over the front end with a fine tooth comb to figure out what was wrong.
Also the CC told Ryan thanks for salavaging a good finish with a piece of crap car. (not exact words) Ryan said Thanks........ & your Right! (with a small chuckle) LOL

Newman Battles to 14th-Place Finish in Texas

Posted: 10 Apr 2011 08:44 PM PDT

FORT WORTH, Texas (April 9, 2011) — Handling and speed issues short circuited Ryan Newman’s performance Saturday night as the U.S. Army driver claimed a 14th-place finish in the Samsung Mobile 500 Sprint Cup race at Texas Motor Speedway.

“We knew we were behind the eight ball with speed and handling and never could find the right balance in our U.S. Army Reserve Chevrolet,” said team crew chief Tony Gibson. “I feel we got everything and more out of our car tonight. Some days it’s not going to be there and you just hope you can squeeze out every ounce of possible performance. That is exactly what Ryan did — an awesome job to finish a respectable 14th.”

The finish dropped Newman one spot in the driver point standings — he is now seventh after seven races.

“This was a demanding race tonight,” stated Newman, who qualified 16th in the Army Reserve Chevy. “We worked a lot harder for a 14th-place finish than a top 10 or top five. This team is so much fun to be around because no one gives up and you know that no matter how bad things get you just work harder and some how you’re able to salvage a decent result. Our brave Soldiers do it every day and we better do it as well since it’s their team and we wear the Army colors.”

The race winner was Matt Kenseth. Rounding out the top-five in order were: Clint Bowyer, Carl Edwards, Greg Biffle and Paul Menard.

The Sprint Cup Series heads to Alabama next Sunday (April 17) for the restrictor plate race at Talladega Superspeedway.

Dega kind of scares me too. But I am holding to the belief that this is Ryan's year to stay out of the wrecks. I am knocking on wood as I type this!

Just got back into town!

I was not happy at all with team #39's results at Texas. Missed the set up badly! :?

Newman's engine tuner must of gone for gas mileage and not all out HP. Either way it probably wouldn't have mattered would be my guess? :?

The last two races show Team #39 going backwards. Let's get back on track fellows please. ;)

Newman's weaker track is coming up this Sunday so anything can and will happen! :)

All is not lost and it's early but want to see positive team efforts. Had enough bad luck! :D
TEAM #48 IS THE BEST! ALL OTHER TEAMS ARE STRIVING TO BE AS GOOD!

Return to Ryan
