Yep, well aware of it.
I'm all for protesting the way our government is "working"
these days, but this type of protest really isn't going to hurt anyone but us who live here and have to travel. Parents with kids, elderly, and those trying to make a living are the ones who are going to pay.
If they really want to make a statement, they shouldn't be planning on stopping traffic on the beltway, as they are, but rather, take those rigs right into the city on Capitol St. and flood those areas...on a WEEKDAY. As it is, people don't have to take the beltway, there are alternatives. And those who may be going in the city over the weekend can just park at the metro stations that are numerous on the outside of the beltway, then just ride on in.
I really don't think this was planned out very well. I see they have a lot of support from people who don't live in DC, but for those of us who do...well, we're not feeling very appreciative or supportive right now.
And this is from someone who's spouse works at the Navy Yard, and was furloughed earlier this year, and this time as well.
