PRE MARTINSVILLE STATS AND WHAT EVER!

This current momentum has excited many of us so far! The air in the Ryan Newman fan base balloon had been slowly letting go for some time now. Wasn't sure he ever would be able to return to his "well hidden greatness" of a year like 2003 with 11 poles and 8 wins. Those type of years are very rare! I would settle for 3 wins and a some poles. :)

With the current competition being as it is. The days of multiple race wins can only be accomplished by a handful of race teams. You need incredible good luck and would have to be with one of the top teams. You know the #48 will always be a threat so he is enemy number one. That is the team to beat along with Kyle. So in knowing that, the best you can hope for is steady Top 5's and 10's. You can forget seeing your favorite driver winning more than 3 races or more....won't happen!(unless you're a #48/#18 fan) :x

Just a little brag sheet to throw at you about Newman. In the Cup Series: 46-poles/14-wins
Nationwide Series: 7-wins/12poles
Truck Series: 1-win/1-pole
Whelen Modified: 3-wins/3-poles
ARCA: 4-wins/3-poles
IROC: 1-win

Looking at Newman at Martinsville: His average start is 14.28/His average finish is 9.1 with a career record of 6 top 5's and 3 top 10's........3-poles with 0 wins.

Please feel free to comment about this race team or driver. The race isn't till Sunday!

With his aveage finish within the top 10, I'm expecting Ryan to have a great race on sunday! We'll get a preview during practice and qualifying.

Re: PRE MARTINSVILLE STATS AND WHAT EVER!

i had posted in a different thread that kyle, denny, jj have won all the short track races since bristol 08, which is a amazing stat, ryan always runs well there and has a chance for a win, if not pick off another top 5, after this, they have texas and dega, 2 iffy tracks, but after that you got richmond, darlington, and dover, 3 tracks where he has success, so it will be exciting the next few weeks

Hey HH! :)

It's true. You can learn a lot about Team #39 from their practices. It was the same when Ryan drove the #12. His teams have NEVER been able to magically find the perfect car balance during a race if there numbers in practice looked abysmal. I wish they could though! :)

I just hope his current engine tuner isn't sacrificing horse power for higher gas mileage. Matt Borland(Ryan's old crew chief) was always encouraging that many years ago. The result was Newman looking like he was down 20 horse power and getting his "doors blown off!" :x

Howdy MJ!

I often talk about JJ since he is the dominant Nascar driver/team. The #48 has been the team to beat no question! 8-)

I got excited back in 2009 when I heard Newman was going to have Hendrick chassis and engines. I felt this was Newman's chance to show the world it was his lack of equipment and bad luck that was holding him back. But, at the same time. Ryan had to endure a lot of change. He has had to endure a lot of change his entire stock car career! Much more than most drivers in Cup. So, I remained patient waiting to see if his new race team could find "the sweet spot" in car balance in order for Newman to go fast? So far this year, it's been worth the wait! :)

Re: PRE MARTINSVILLE STATS AND WHAT EVER!

it has been worth the wait, kinda like 2003 or 05, towards the end of his penske career he was put on the back burner, it was a awesome day when he won the 500, but your right, i think they hit the sweet spot, and something good is going to happen this yr, i dig your attitude so for you i hope he pulls off the big one, and i think you know what i mean by that... :D

I think Ryan could very well end up being this year's "sleeper" pick to make the Chase... and high up in the rankings at that. So far, he seems to be getting better handling race cars than Tony. As for horsepower... time will tell. :)

I tell you HH. I have been let down so many times in so many years with Newman but I never faulted Ryan as the problem. Penske used Ryan as there "let's try this" experimental project driver for many years and his career suffered terribly! Then, throw in those historic "anything can and will happen to Newman" races that frustrated Ryan and his fan base! :?

Newman said when he talked about joining S/H,"I want to have fun again." That should tell you, he was NOT having any fun with Penske and we all knew it! :(

The reason I brought up the horse power issue was it was so obvious when watching Newman basically "drag racing" down the straight-a-ways how much slower he was. Was it tires?...I doubt it! Was it rear end gearing?......possibly but no team can miss that badly! It's good old American horse power and all it takes to LOOSE a race is for your race car to be 10-20 horse power less than your opponent. The battle is won or lost by horse power, rear end gearing and aerodynamics racing in a straight line. But, in Nascar we have to deal with cornering and straight-a-ways that will test all elements of a stock car! :D

Re: PRE MARTINSVILLE STATS AND WHAT EVER!

I agree you could see the problems when he was with Penske. But now, he is with a new team and owner. Things will be different (better) with SHR. Tony is trying to build a winning organization and he will get just about anything Ryan wants or needs (within reason) to be successful.

I just don't see Tony acting any other way whether it's something for his own #14 team or Ryan's #39 team.

I'm sure last year was a disappointment for Ryan (and Tony) when he didn't make the Chase. But, I'll bet Ryan is "having fun" again.

This year looks to be better than last year for Ryan. Keep the faith! I am.

Their computers have that Web Sense crap installed on them. You can't "update" anything therefore their web browsers are old and out dated. I am a sub-contracted worker that doesn't need to be filtered in any way! :D
