I know michaeljohn can get some people on this forum going with his support of the 48, but I am the first to say that Chad is the best at what he does, and Jimmie is one of the best at what he does. You get that kind of combination, with top level equipment, and you will be hard to beat. And you will be hard to replicate. Let me say that again. That kind of combination will be hard to replicate.
Hendrick engines are not the issue. As pointed out, EGR is running much better this year compared to last year. Though it doesn't look like it in the points and the finishes, Big Mac and JPM are at least running near the top 10 when having problems (blown tires, caught up in crashes, pit road mistakes). Last year they were having these problems and running mid-pack. So the performance is there, they just need to put the whole thing together. HMS has been running well but at times so has SHR. I guess people forgot Stewart was running up front all day at Cali before the Logano incident. To be honest, I think Newman's performance will go down before it goes up this year. From what I am hearing, this will be his last year at SHR. And I don't think Danica will be getting any preferential treatment this season. So I think the focus will be on Stewart. I hate to say it, but quite a few of you Newman fans won't have to be posting to this website much longer about Newman's performance.
