Post Race Fan Confrontation

Well this video will most likely divide some members here. First and foremost, I did not take this video, nor know the person who did. I also can say that though I can see why Tony was annoyed, he could have handled it much better. Also adult language is used.

Yep, That's Tony. He can be really great to the fans or an A**, it just depends on the situation and his mood. I think he respects his fans as a whole, but man, if he treated me like that, I'd be ticked.

Re: Post Race Fan Confrontation

Remember this is the same man who took time out of his very busy schedule to visit fans injured in the car crash at Daytona.....wanted no publicity for it and spent time with each and everyone, giving them signed souvenirs......think about it.....that's why I am his fan and always will be.... I love his spunk, his fire, his honesty.....what you see is what you get. He has the biggest heart that's Tony and a smoldering fire..........that's Smoke :)

Re: Post Race Fan Confrontation

I agree with Annalee on this. Tony was talking to someone and actually the fans were rude butting in. I don't believe the fans were the ones who busted their rears trying to make a life out racing. Yes the fans bought the tickets and out of the ticket money the racers are paid a portion. Why does a ticket give anyone the right to push and shove to get anyones attention? Racing is about the only sport where they give autographs for free. Every try and get anything out of baseball, football, or basketball? No because they are escorted out and no one would dare try and get into their little world unless they are going to be paid for it. I've read just about every post here since last Sunday and am shocked the hits Tony has aimed at him. It's a real shame Tony isn't perfect and yes that is sarcastic but he is my favorite come he$$ or high water.

Re: Post Race Fan Confrontation

Nothing new here. Anyone who roots for Tony knows by now that he isn't Richard Petty in terms of fan interaction when he's at the track, and if that turns them off they can root for Carl Edwards or somebody.

I can't really blame him for being less than pleasant here at least with the first guy, he's having a conversation with the other driver and the guy interrupts them. Dunno how they like it when someone interrupts their conversations, but Tony obviously doesn't like it.

(before anyone accuses me of stealing that from the comments, that's me, haha)

Re: Post Race Fan Confrontation

No, sorry... Don't bother the drivers after the race. After many grueling miles how would anyone have the patience to deal with a rude fan. And yes, I consider that rude. I've heard Tony say many times how little patience he has after a race. He's mentioned people bothering him while waiting in line for the helicopter after a race too. Some fans have no idea what a race takes out of them, but I guess if you're ignorant enough not to know they lose 10-15 pounds per race, then you're ignorant enough to think they want you sticking your crap in their face at the end of the day. Besides being claustrophobic and the crowd surrounding him. Don't blame him at all. If you're a true fan, you know how he is.

Re: Post Race Fan Confrontation

So you're a Tony Stewart fan and you don't know he can be a little pi@&y?

I have found him to be quite charming and talkative in the right setting. Other than that....leave him alone unless you want to draw back a nub. Plain and simple.

Ha ha ha ha! Thanks Rochelle... :D :D :D best laugh of the day and pretty much sums it up - -

drivers don't want you shoving your crap in their faces after a race....

Everyone remember that... LOL LOL LOL

Tony has stated many times, when he's at a race, he doesn't "want" to sign stuff. Maybe he will.... maybe he won't ... but he asks fans not to bother him with autographs ON race day - before & after. He WILL, however, stay late at signings until everyone has a chance, holds many signings, etc. I think, to him, an autograph is all about asking at the right time and place.

I just wonder why you chose to post this ... especially at a hard time for Tony. Not implying you can not or should not... just why... is all. Just curious. :-)

Re: Post Race Fan Confrontation

I don't know much about racing, but if Tony is typical of most racers before a race they have to get into "the zone" so to speak. Then like any on us that have worked hard at a job and sweated everything out that we have put into us they are bound to be tired & yes cranky. If you don't know what it's like go to work in a sweat shop sometime or work out in the hay field for 8 hours on a hot summer day and go home to have everyone demanding stuff from you. You'll know what it's like then.

Re: Post Race Fan Confrontation

Actually this "not in your face" goes for regular jobs also. My husband worked in an air conditioned office and since he was in pulic relations he dealt with all sorts of problems. blah, blah. We had one thing we never did was to hit him with all kinds of problems at the door or whatever when he got home. It sure made dinner time pleasant.

Re: Post Race Fan Confrontation

All Tony asks for is a little respect. He is WORKING. Whether before or after the race. Yes, he was speaking to another racer, but give the man some room after he's been in a car for a couple of hours. Tony can be touchy? moody? whatever, he's still the best at what he does. He may not always be a touchy feely guy, but he is honest about how he feels. Those fans in that video disrespected him, interrupted him and deserved to be told no. I'm a fan of Tony's because he's honest, hard working, and has very much earned his place in this sport. Would I like to get his autograph, yes, but I would not push myself at him to get it, I have too much respect for him to do that.
