Re: MOVIE BLOG - Favorite movies of all time

One of my fave musicals! :-)

I still sing the songs to this one too! Sunrise, Sunset - If I were a rich man - Match maker and the Sabbath Prayer is incredible.

My fave scene in that movie is the dream sequence. :-)

"I'm not marrying your daughter, so I don't have to listen to you!" Hee hee hee
Smoke 'em if ya got 'em!

Sh*t happens... but don't worry, it usually happens to me.

How could I have forgotten "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest". A Nicholson classic.

Another couple of Nicholson classics worth an Honorable Mention are "As Good As It Gets" with Helen Hunt and "Five Easy Pieces".

Re: MOVIE BLOG - Favorite movies of all time

Funny that Fiddler on the Roof was mentioned. We just watched that this weekend. My daughter is learning to play "Sunrise, Sunset" on piano and her teacher wanted her to see the movie. I hadn't seen it in years and I had forgotten how much I liked it.

tlmerk wrote:Yep, Fiddler on the roof was great.

I think it would have been more fun to list a line from our favorite flicks and then had to guess the movies.

There would have been so many good lines from Fiddler and Tve (sp?) was a terrific character.

Mine would include... "I'm your Huckleberry." Or
Yippee Cayay Mother **ucker"
"They Fu** you in the drive-thru." :D or
"Suprised Eddie? If I woke up tomorrow morning with my head sewn to the carpet, I wouldn't be more surprised."

These are all great lines. "I'm your Huckleberry" is my all-time favorite movie quote for sure.

Bull Durham to me is full of great bits, especially Crash's "speech" to Annie about what he believes 8-) and the classic "Don't try to strike everybody out. Strikeouts are boring. Besides that, they're fascist. Throw some groundballs, it's more democratic".

Smoke 14TS: Oh, I figured it out all right. A spattering of old age and a few years of brain abuse. But then again I wouldn't trade the past for anyone's present.

LeslieO: My favorite Fiddler scene is when Hodel goes on the train to Siberia to be with the one she loves. You can see and feel the love in that scene a hundred times over.

I would be interested how your daughter, the younger generation, liked it or not. Please do tell.

My husband and I were dating when several of these movies came out so they mean a lot to me too. Loved Animal House and Caddy Shack and I clearly remember seeing Cheech and Chong at the Drive In movies because it rained! :D GOOD TIMES :D .... BUT PHANTASM!!!! HAHA Saw that several places just to see the audience's response. "BOY!!!" is still the line I clearly remember. That is my family's classic scary movie. After we took my little brother to see it, my husband (boyfriend at the time) hid in his closet and when we had all gone to bed he opened my brother's closet door and said... "BOY!!!" Surprised anyone else has heard of Phantasm.

I like that scene most, too. Very powerful.

My daughter is 13 and she rolled her eyes at the thought of the movie (she isn't a big fan of musicals) but she loves her piano teacher and she humored us... and she ended up loving the movie. She was charmed by Tevye and enjoyed his songs and she really got into the daughters' stories.

Christmas movies...

We are big Home Alone fans. Have to watch it every year (the first one, though we do like the others, too).

I love Rudolph also, have to make sure to catch that on TV every year.

The Santa Clause movies and Christmas Vacation are probably my other favorites.

Didn't care for Next Movie a whole lot...at least not in comparison to Nice Dreams and Up in Smoke.
Up in Smoke is such a great movie.
My friend and I at about 15 could recite the opening 15 minutes of the show and used to do it for friends and at parties.
"What's the matter man, you afraid of a little speed?"

Too many great lines in both Nice Dreams and Up in Smoke to quote...that could go on for hours. ;)

Okay ..maybe one more... "Can't you see? She's all *&#@ed up!"..."oof" :D
