dog or pet thread

now i know there are many members here who have and love dogs, and it hit me, i dont think we ever had a dog/pet thread....

i was watching my dog "frehley" sleeping yesterday, then she started to rub her face on her bed, then started smacking her mouth, then i thought of all the years she has brought me joy and that ive been very lucky, she was only sick one time, about 10 years ago, she is a good dog, she doesnt run off and is very friendly, tho she pooped in the house the other nite, i can not complain.. it was funny she is a black lab, she will be 15 in june..

if anyone else want to share a story about their dog or pet, would be neat to share stories.

From back in December, Jackson's 9, almost 10 years old, and my daughter Abigail is just now 6 months old. Their mother did this to them, I was not home for the torment below.

I don't have any dogs now - had & trained them for years ( collies & shepherds ) - but now I just have a bunch of cats.

Jr, my brittish shorthair & best friend in the world... died in early Jan, after 16 long, wonderful years. ( No, he wasn't named after Junior ... it referred to his size cuz this breed of cats is huge! )

This is Sinbad - my evil sister's cat. ( Not the one who passed this year ) She abandoned him and I went & recused him. The funniest thing about this guy is... he sings! LOL Well ... he tries, anyway. I sing the song "Mr Sandman" to him only I say Sinbad instead of Sandman. He meows after a break in the stanza's.

Mr Sinbad ( meow ) bring me a dream (meow)
make him the cutest that I've ever seen ( meow ) and so on. I didn't teach him this... he came up with the back up vocals, all on his own.



Funny story... my dad was CHP and took in 2 ex police dogs ( both shepherds, at different times ( years apart ) and both named Baron - by complete coincidence. ) I grew up as a small child thinking EVERY dog was this well trained! LOL Both dogs also saved my brother when older neighbor kids were picking on him. One of the Barons went THRU the fence to get the kids! Yeah there was blood, yeah we got sued ... but no one messed with us after that.

I think this is a great idea. I love furbabies and have a 106 pound German Shepherd, Cody. He is, in my opinion, the most beautiful shepherd I have ever seen. I got him from a guy who was not a breeder per se but had shepherds for search and rescue. When we first brought Cody home we thought that's the job we would have him do to assist my husband who was a member of the Lenawee County Tech Rescue team, but Cody hated it. He trained with police dogs and rescue dogs from the State of Michigan and while the other dogs were searching he was playing! LOL turns out he doesn't like other dogs, wants nothing to do with them, but loves children and the elderly so we switched gears and he is a therapy dog visiting nursing homes and schools. Cody will be 7 in April and probably the best dog I have ever had and I've had a lot over my life time. I just wish he could travel when we do but for some strange reason the airlines won't let him on board and I'll be darned if he will ever be put in baggage - he's nicer than a lot of people and in fact, I like him better than a lot of people! If I can ever figure out how to post a picture here - I will!
