Goooood Morning SHR- All-Star Saturday

She was following too closely to a sand truck and got a stone chip in the lower part of windshield. Then to get the ice off the ice off the wiper blades she started banging them on the windshield and the next thing you know we have a small crack that within a mile down the road grew to go from the lower right side to lower left side.

I will add that this morning it is -15* and 4 mile per hour winds giving a windchill factor of -27*

... not a good day to replace a windshield.

Yesterday was clearly warmer than today. Tomorrow is supposed to be worse...supposed to drop to -27* tonight with high of 5*

Yikes! Too cold for me.

Something wrong when the wife's car starts easier than my new truck.

Our radar shows snow is over us & has been over us. I look out my window & there's nothing.
Doesn't mean it's not coming
Up to 3" & some areas can get more.
I hope we get less than 1"

Garage is only 18 feet long truck is longer and I will not leave that thing open with all the tools inside for the world to see and steal. Also have the push mower, riding tractor, snow blower, and back hoe in there.

In Montana my mom had to "plug" in her car at night... Do you have that too beave? I have to admit it was really strange to see an electrical plug hanging out the front of her car. That was years ago though. I never liked the cold but she loved it, probably from being born and raised in Colorado. I'll stay here and gripe about the heat...

The first time I ever saw that was in Alaska. I had no clue... had to ask. In the hotel parking lot where we stayed, every parking spot had an a/c power outlet on a metal pipe stand so you could plug in your car's engine heaters.

I could NOT live like that. Mrs HH has a cousin that lived for years in North Pole, AK, just outside Fairbanks. Several of the interior walls of their house had murals painted with faux windows made to appear like you were looking out at a green meadow full of colorful blooming flowers in an attempt to trick your mind during the winter when the sun never rises. Nope, nope, nope... not me!

I have to go along with the ones who would rather not live in frigid cold weather. I do like cold weather as long it isn't waaay below zero. I feel better in the winter and I can breathe better. If we ever have another summer like last year I'll be headed to the North Pole also.

My son had "plug-ins" at his apartment complex in Chicago......when you have to plugin your car that is just tooooooooooo cold! He now lives in LA and we live in NC, were it snows one day and is gone the next!

18* this morning in Hopewell, with about 1 1/2" on SNOW all over everything.
It started with ice pellets at about 11:00 am in Holly Springs, NC, just before I was heading home.
It was only a 3 hrs drive, but with the conditions, I didn't get home til 6:45 pm. The worst part was trying to get around Raleigh. With schools letting out early and business's closing, It was 5:00 rush hour at noon. The storm started almost 3 hours earlier than they had predicted.

My sister in South Carolina said they had an ice storm yesterday. They had to close school early. Took her over an hour to get home...it is normally a 10 minute drive.

It is -3* here this morning.

It's 57 here and has been raining since early this morning. This is the most rain we've had in over a year and we really need it. It rained a little Thursday and yesterday but this is only the 2nd time it's rained this winter, what's up with that? I love the rain. If I had a hammock, I'd be outside under the carport listening to it. Supposed to rain off and on through Monday.

I wouldn't survive in AK for very long. I used to watch Northern Exposure and that was as close to frigid temps that I care to be. Don't mind the snow for a few days at a time, I've taken skiing vacations a few times, but that's as far as I'll go. We had snow here during Thanksgiving time quite a few years ago, but that's about it. Only lasted about 1/2 hour which was perfect!
