Wow! What happened to Ryan?

Yep--Danica out qualified him-- . Maybe she stole all his setups and then he didnt have any when it was his turn to qualify? Joking-- as I was surprised as well he didnt qualfy better as heck he often beats Tony, course Tony wasnt great today either--something is wrong at SHR.

I said it early on and iam no Ryan expert but when briefly interviewed Borland said he was nervous about being Ryans CC and I think, that he has been away too long from being a CC as it happens, but time will tell I guess? The race should show more as i say qualifying isnt that important --but others disagree so well see on Sunday?

espn2 covred it, usually when speed covers qualifying, the re air it in the middle of the nite, i didnt get so what happened, only caught a few, i tell ya they had clint in the "studio helpin out, and when it was JJ's turn, JJ got really lose and clint was like " cmon your doing good one more lap." it was funny stuff, then when JJ did his 2nd lap and got the pole clint was like" oh great, now i got to follow him around sunday." ya cant hate on clint, he was making jokes about all the drivers, nothing mean, just him bein silly.

I caught that interview also Racer when Borland said he was nervous. Didnt make me feel all warm & fuzzy on the inside either.
But like I said before. I dont care if Ryan struggles the rest of the season, while Borland gets his sea legs back. As long as going into next season they are heading in the right direction.

A small price to pay for some hope finally.

i expect ryan and matt to have growing pains, 5 or 6 years apart, people change, so having this time to feel each other out, is a good thing,

First off--Iam NOT crazy or that happy with TG being with Danica if hes anything like Eury JR, as being a nice guy or a good CC in the past doesnt mean squat if he cant give her a good car NOW or next yr--period. I would've preferred SHR to give a young CC with new ideas and a will to advance a chance with her as other teams have done, so dont know why SHR and JRM as well--keeps hiring these old CC that may have left their better days well behind them. ESPN saying Danica needs these old CC is nuts far as Iam concerned--give a young guy a chance to grow and learn Cup with her, course apparently that isnt going to happen now?

The only good thing is if she fails to qualify next yr and misses races, changes will happen iam sure of that. Hopefully everything will be fine but these next couple races may or may not show us something for her and Ryan as well with different CC ?

Dont worry racer1 I have a theory.
I think TG is just a stop gap for her while she learns the cars. Once she starts showing something they will get her a real CC, to take her to the next step.
Whoever her 1st CC is I believe is pretty much doomed anyways, so why lose a potentially good CC, when you can throw TG out with the bathwater.
If TG is still her CC by beginning of year 3, then I would be going crazy if I were you.

im going out on a limb i say 3 CC's in 3 years, plus the demise of HMS for not giving her fast cars...... yea the last part wont happen, but HMS will be to blame at one point in time, even tho since 1995, HMS has 10 tittles and one tittle for a satellite team

Ryan's lap was totally missed as it was during the commerical break. No explanation other than "well Ryan won't get his 50th pole today" and no replay but it was clear something had to have happened.

But again the car didn't really have speed in practice again. Was hoping for something different these last few races but to me it looks like they've gone total experimental mode with the 39. Unfortunately whatever they're doing isn't working.

Just really getting old to see the HMS cars run so strong and then this. Now they will also be providing engines to RCR next year, so they will only get to sabotage more Chevy teams I guess. Or maybe at least SHR won't get stuck with the bottom-of-the-barrel stuff anymore.

All you guys realize that HMS doesnt sell the teams turn key crate engines to all these teams dont you?
All the individual teams put their motors together themselves. & I am sure all the teams inspect the engines they get, so to see if their is inconsistencies in the ports & pistons & such. Wouldnt make sense for HMS Roush or any of them to sell faulty merchandise. They probably make more money selling equipment than they do winning a championship. The only way to get over on teams they sell motors to would be to hide something in the engine block, which would be insane.
If SHR has motor issues, it is probably something they are doing to their engines, not being sold crap motors. Also there is a lot of things that isnt on or in the motor that helps with lack of power if that is the complaint.
I really wish people could let go of this conspiracy theory.
It makes us SHR fans look foolish.

plus they have access to HMS engine builders, as i stated before, Tony and Steve sit on the weekly meetings at HMS, now its up to them what they do with the info. Mr H is a business man, he isnt going to jeopardize what he built to sell teams crappy engines, i want to see ryan do well, but to use HMS as the excuse is kinda bogus. if you wanna blame anyone, blame the powers to be that kept tony gibson around, when he was not able to set up cars for ryan.

btw it EGR getting the engines, they were already leasing their engines from RCR..

Iam not sure what you mean by that but Ive been around racing a long time and Ive been in shops where engines from manufactures are sitting in crates and better then that, ive seen specials or segmenets of where crews had to change an engine and had it on a crate and simply removed the old engine and set the new one in and some have done it in less then 2 hrs. These engines are readily available like Hendricks to SHR as they need them basically ready to go, other then exterior components like starters, alternators, exhaust system and fuel system manifolds, hoses, fluids etc. You make it sound like they give the team a box of rods, bolts seals, bearings and loose parts they have assemble and thats NOT true. Of course once the engine is in they have to tune it but they often have help lke from the Hendricks engine guys or RCR etc as weve seen.

I actually have bought engines from manufacturers as i used to race and build drag strip 1/4 mile cars. I bought long blocks and all I had to add was carburation (manifold), spark plugs and exterior components as mentioned, hoses, wiring and fluids and fire it up as we used to change an engine in around 4 hrs as we werent as good as these experts. OH well--believe what you want as it doesnt really matter as you have your opinion and i have mine from seeing and doing it. I have actually torn down many engines and rebuilt them from scratch as well many times. A--H-H those were the good ole days .
