Jayski....[*Hamlin wrecks in Kansas testing: Championship contender Denny Hamlin crashed his #11 Toyota into the wall in Thursday morning's Sprint Cup test session at Kansas Speedway and was being evaluated before being he could return to the racetrack. Hamlin hit the wall hard on the right side after losing control entering Turn 1 and drove his Camry, which was his primary car for Sunday's Hollywood Casino 400, back to the garage. Typically drivers who bring their car back to the garage are not required to go to the infield care center. Hamlin went there and was asked to return later Thursday morning for further evaluation. Hamlin's hit comes after the issue of concussions has gained massive attention in NASCAR with Dale Earnhardt Jr. missing his second consecutive race because of a second concussion in six weeks he suffered in a last-lap crash at Talladega Superspeedway on Oct. 7. Hamlin did not talk to the news media immediately because he was scheduled to go back to the infield care center. Hamlin's last lap before he crashed was 181.409 mph -- his fastest lap of the session. The track qualifying record is 180.856 mph set by Matt Kenseth in October 2005.(USA Today)(10-18-2012)
