Danica to get Newman's crew in 2013?

oh it can get worse, i just hope some thought is put in to the CC and it is someone compatible, i wouldnt care if it was a no name, just as long as he was confident in what he was doing.

wow..well maybe one of the things that concerns me is why the whole crew is going with the 10. The last few years I don't think they've been bad, now does this mean Ryan gets some new guys next year with little to no experience?

And as for Tony G. - I actually have always wished Danica well in her racing being a longtime follower of IndyCar, but I feel bad for her now. Now she really has no chance.

They probably finally realized a change was needed here. Don't know who they're gonna get. Tell you what I wouldn't really want Addington anymore either. This whole group is a letdown in crew chiefs.

I say, Matt Borland to the 39 and Zippadelli to the 14. Why not, it's proven.

WE dont really know whats going to happen yet as the media sometimes gets it wrong, but not likely probably but nothing is signed yet. However as i said I'll see what happens with the TG CC if thats whats happenning but rest assured there are lots of powerfull money people behind Danica that wont tolerate her having a bad car, course at first nothing will be proven given she will be NEW with a new CC & crew, so it will be tough to measure for a long while. However--after that if she keeps saying the car IS crap and they cant get it better--well--where are the Eurys NOW? Would they still be gone if she had lots of top 10's or top 5's--you figure it out while JRM just says change was needed--yeh--because they dont know how to setup a car as 2 yrs since the last win with lots of other drivers and Cup drivers in their cars--duh--proof enough --period.

The good--Danica said every pit stop they made her car better and her laps showed it and thats something that hasnt happenned in the NNs car much but thats with Zippy. She also would have qualified on time this yr for every Cup race but Kentucky, where they lost something and that cant happen next yr. Therefore, its hard to tell if progress can be maintained with TG as CC according to many here, but while she learns and gets better it wont be an issue, but if she falls flat with TG as CC--he wont be there long id guess, but it could take a long time before that can be determined-- so hope for the best as i do.

BTW--whether some know this or care--her IMG management guy is a previous Nascar guy so he knows Nascar so doubt he will let anything remotely not going well to affect his client as he may have played a role in the Eury thing as well as Rick Hendricks who is behind Danica--we may never know for sure, but lack of success leads to change--that we know..

I think Ryan is getting screwed. It's time for Ryan to start looking for a ride with someone else. If he can find a good ride for next year he ought to buy out his contract and leave. Maybe with Michael Waltrip Racing.

I would agree with this change. Question is does Tony Stewart want to make it?

Honestly, as driver and cc combo, I thought Tony and Zippy were stale that last year at JGR. I don't think anything needs to happen yet. They have a new body style next year so I think they need to work on that. Whoever Ryan gets will be a welcome change. Everything in NASCAR cycles, good luck, bad luck, winning streaks, losing streaks, etc. Well, except for JJ for 5 years With the new bodies next year, it's going to be a wait and see as far as who gets a handle on it and how long it takes. Yes, they've had testing, but as I understand it, not with sheet metal bodies. In any case, I believe the fresh start with new cc and crew for Ryan will be good. Most here agree that change was needed so I think we should have an open mind. IMO

Tony just said on Nascar Now along with Ryan that the media always does this as he addressed at a press confrence as well and said that nothing has been decided YET as they are working on lots of things to yet be finalized regarding ALL the teams, Mainly he just announced the Quicken sponsorship doubling their races and not much else--for what its worth as It could be much later before all things are finalized. I did find it strange to advertise a BIG announcement and then to just say the Quicken deal had doubled to half the races, as to me a Big announcement would be a big NEW sponsor or confirming changes to teams etc but--oh well--Nascar has to have somthing to talk about on these shows other then boasting about the winner of the last race the entire week?

Whoa, that shocks me a little. Just a few minutes ago, after the sponsor announcement for Ryan, both Matt Clark and Bob Dillner were commenting on the possible crew change for Danica and Ryan. Both of them said Ryan's crew is not happy with, wait for it, wait for it... RYAN! Ok, don't jump down my throat, I'm just repeating what they said. Granted, they aren't the know all be all of information, but they spend every weekend in the garages at the races. Needless to say, I was very surprised and I'm wondering if that might have something to do with his 1 year contract? Kind of makes you think a bit...

I saw the Race Hub and my jaw dropped when Bon Dillner said that about team 39. But when you think about it it kinda makes sense. I hope that whatever happens for Ryan and his team in 2013 that they are a smashing success.

Oh, and Tony and Ryan all cleaned up for the press conference??? Both kinda hot in my book.

Just saw Race Hub and I was also shocked......Bob Dillner said Ryan's crew felt very unappreciated and they are not happy.......Wonder what they meant by that? Maybe that was what Zippy was talking about when he said he needed to do something with that team before it explodes.

I agree Ryan and Tony do clean up really well!

I don't get in car audio so I don't know how Ryan talks to his crew but it may also be something that goes on in the garages or shop. Really did surprise me. It does kind of go along with what Zippy said though. I thought Zippy was being a little dramatic, but he obviously knows more than we do. All I can say is wow, I'm really surprised.

I think they all may just need a kick in the butt to get on the right track...

would have really wished for them to elaborate those comments...I haven't heard of Ryan bashing them on the radio but more than a few times this year (and recently) he's said something like "we had trouble on pit road" after the race - and honestly this year I don't think they can be called out if a few positions get lost on a stop. The stops under yellow have been solid all year. For whatever reason Ryan does seem to lose a lot of ground on green flag stops though. But, these issues aren't really affecting his outcome, the problems are with the car or indeed with him on the race track.

I think potentially also the crew is just being loyal to Tony G. and maybe behind closed doors Ryan hasn't been very supportive of Gibson lately, and this has upset the crew. Or maybe they're just mad they have to pit for Danica now, and it wouldn't be wise to call out the big boss Stewart, so they're taking it out on Ryan.

Could be they are upset about not making it into the Chase and are taking it out on Ryan as they refuse to blame themselves as even I have seen a lot of mistakes on pitroad when they do show his car. They certainly are nowhere near the fastest pitcrew in the business.

The more I think about it, the way Clark/Dillner discussed it seems to be legit reporting - perhaps Ryan has stated his issues with both Tony G. AND the crew and has actually asked for a change. Maybe was even a requirement for him signing on for another 1 yr? I don't have a problem with any of Zipadelli's comments either. They've had 4 years and something has to be done with this 39 'program'.

In '09 the crew was noticeably bad, in '10 they were still below average, the last few years though I really think they were on par with most everyone else, hardly ever notice Ryan dropping positions after a stop unless other teams were doing 0 or 2 tires. BUT, no question they have never really been that fast, you never see them with the 13-second stops like the 11, 2, and some other teams seem to be able to regularly pull off. So maybe that is the discord.

I think what is most puzzling is the unhappy and unappreciated comment. This group should work on the Busch Bros cars, then they could really experience unhappiness. I wonder if they are playing the good cop....bad cop roles.....TG being the good cop and Ryan trying to motivate them, being the bad cop??

Another thing I find puzzling is that everyone loves and respects TG.... I have listened on the scanner to Ryan...he is probably one of the better, calmer, nicer drivers in NASCAR...when he is mad, he truly has justification for some dumb mistakes on pit road...

When asked for a vote from the team on whether they wanted to stay with Ryan or go with TG to Danica's car, they all wanted to go to Danica's. I like Danica, but the lack of loyalty to Ryan amazes me...

I am sure Hallmark cards must have a card for "Unappreciated Pit Crew members"!
