Newman / SHR announcement next week?

#39-Ryan Newman is expected to remain at Stewart-Haas Racing with additional support from sponsor Quicken Loans. An announcement could come as early as next week.(FoxSports)(8-13-2012)

Hearing the same thing from other sources as well. Also hearing that Bass Pro Shops will also be a sponsor. McMurray re-signed with EGR over the weekend, but no mention of sponsorship was made during his annoucement. Heard the reason for that was that BPS will be leaving the #1 and going to SHR, mainly to Ryan, but one or two races for Smoke as well.

^Where did you hear that? That is something I haven't heard anywhere. From what it looks like Quicken Loans will be the primary sponsor for the 39 with Outback steak house and a few other associate sponsors.

I have always thought Bass Pro Shops would be a great extra sponsor..........If they are smart need to use the pictures of Ryan and Brooklyn fishing! Priceless!

maybe if Penske doesn't put Sammy in the 22, then Tony could hire him for a 4th car and have an all midwestern team of drivers. (I know not gonna happen)

That doesn't sound like primary sponsorship to me so I hope that BPS is on board for a few races. Since they're "hoping to make an announcement as early as next week", to me that implies there may be more to it. I certainly hope so!

The most I could see is BPS doing what they did this year and sponsoring Ryan for a race or two. And an associate sponsor for the races (which they already are).

They singled out Quicken Loans for a reason in that press spinet. That is the company that I believe will be on Ryan's car the majority of the races.

I agree. Ryan doesn't get the exposure that Tony does but Tony always gives kudos to Ryan's sponsors, as does Ryan for Tony. I don't see that on Jamie's team. JPM hardly ever acknowledges his own sponsor, much less Jamie's. Jamie is good at acknowledging his sponsors, but he's not getting much exposure lately. I did notice that they only mentioned his contract extension for 2013. I wonder if that's due to sponsorship. I thought most contracts were multi-year. I'm hoping Ryan's is for more than just one year but I guess that depends on sponsorship also. I just want him to feel secure so he can concentrate on racing. And, I want to see both of those precious girls, make that 3 precious girls at the track. I love the interaction between Ryan and Brooklyn and I look forward to him having his whole family at the track.

^Jamie didn't disclose how long his contract was. Just said he will be back in 2013. It will be interesting to see what happens with all these sponsors. Last time I heard Chip said he is close to resigning BPS and McDonalds.

Don't forget BPS had been on the one since 2006. And associated with was was DEI even longer. They are pretty loyal. And I am sure BPS is still happy about 2010. But who knows. Things change.

NVM. It has been denied. Though they are working on it.
UPDATE: A team spokesman said Monday that no announcement is scheduled, but reiterated that the team is focused on re-signing Newman and new sponsors. "Negotiations regarding retaining Ryan Newman as the driver of the #39 car are ongoing, as are discussions with various brands to partner with Stewart-Haas Racing and the #39 team," SHR spokesman Mike Arning said in an email. i will get slammed for this, but its the truth, why spend 10-15 million dollars a year to run mid pack? and thats how it has been, even when truex was the driver. at least with SHR you have a driver in newman that has made the chase, and wins on a consistent basis, then not to mention having tony in a more exclusive role as another spokes person, plus ryan lives that lifestyle more than the current driver, but if they wanna stick around on a mid pack car, more power to em.
