THERE'S A RACE THIS SUNDAY IN INDIANOPOLIS!

I posted this way to early last week so let's strike up the band for this coming Sunday's race! :D

Let's be honest. This track is much more noted as being the track of the "Indianapolis 500" which saw it's very first race in 1911! So much rich history there. Nascar didn't come along till the 60's. 8-)

This race is bigger money as far as the prize fund goes but comparing Nascar to the IRL is crazy! Drinking the milk and kissing the old bricks was an IRL tradition that Nascar has copied. Maybe they should leave that to the IRL?

Not only is the race track full of history but it's the home state of both Ryan and Tony. They both would love to win there for the home crowd. Kind of sad Ryan struggles there. It would be so big for him to win there some day! :D

Nascar practice will commence Friday 7/28/12 at both 8:30AM and 10:30AM(ET) with qualifying starting at 2:00PM(ET) Race is Sunday 7/29/12 at 1:00PM(ET) with the heavy commercials I'm sure!

Ryan Newman's numbers at Indy since 2009 are:Starts 17/5/23 and Finishes 14/17/12 no poles obviously. His very best finish there was in the old #12 in 2002 at 4TH! So, team #39 has their work cut out for them. Please Tony, get a balance before the race is over!

Lets not mix words. Newman needs some consistency and no DNF'S from here on out or he will have to "kiss his new baby" as far as the Nascar Chase! :D

Paint scheme will be the "Quicken Loans." :D

I've been to 2 of these 400s. The 1st was in '95 when Dale won and the 2nd was '05 when Tony won. I enjoy the indy 500 more than the brickyard 400

I remember Tony's win in 2005 Jamo. Was so glad for him! :D Lots of Stewart fans here in my home town and two of my four sisters lasts names are Stewart. :D

Only wish Ryan could win there for his home state crowd. I hear it's a bit rough for the fans to see the track the way it's set up there? :?

Re: NASCAR HEADS TO INDIANOPOLIS MOTOR SPEEDWAY 7/29!

yeah, there really isn't a seat at the track where you can see everything, but it's a track where you can get a seat close up to almost everything. If you sit across from pit lane, you don't need binoculars to watch a pit stop...or you can sit behind pit lane and get better pics because there is no catch fence. The seats that sellout are Stand E (turn 1). It is SO cool watching the 3x3 start of Indy500 in those seats, but you lose sight of them when they exit turn 2. You pick em up again when they exit turn 4. There are videoboards everywhere so you still get to see what you miss every lap, but that don't do much for me.

Re: THERE'S A RACE THIS SUNDAY IN INDIANOPOLIS!

I like both leagues that race here. It really doesn't matter. It's just the thrill of racing. The first time Tony won I stood in front of the TV screaming as loud as I could. I just knew he wanted that race so badly and I didn't want to see him disappointed again. When he did win I cried like a kid. I did the same thing when Dale Earnhardt won his Daytona 500 and he wasn't even a favorite of mine. When Tony won the second time I just yelled "Da#* your the man".
As for the 55 Corvette one of the publisher/owners of local newspapers bought one for his wife. She loved that car. I thought it was blue my husband says it was black. Whatever!

Re: THERE'S A RACE THIS SUNDAY IN INDIANOPOLIS!

Thanks for putting up the pics of the Corvettes. My brother was in VietNam for 2 tours and saved every bit of his pay to buy a Corvette and motorcycle when he was discharged. He bought a Hunter green 1970 and it was ordered berfore he came home. In order for it to be ready the day he arrived in Michigan I had to make some of his decisions for him. That was scary....Not really as he didn't care what tires I chose, blah, bla. He had the car for a few months and it blew an engine. Since the car was under warranty he chose a 71. My father had a fit when he found out my brother paid cash for the car. It was $5,000 and my father thought that was robbery. He wouldn't believe what cars cost today. Now if anyone could tell me what year there was a Corvette made with 2 tops and one was a split top I'd appreciate it. I believe it was made sometime in the 60's. My brother bought it second hand and loved that car. Sad part his wife made him get rid of it and buy a as she put it a real car. Are they still marrried? No.
