Tony to start 2nd

When your qualifying time is disallowed it is like you never hit the track. So everyone who qualified behind you qualified one spot up. It is different from when say someone blows an engine in practice, qualifies, but has to go to the back. Their qualifying lap was allowed. But since they changed their engine they go to the back and everyone in the lane that person was in moves up.

No, I don't get it since Austin kept his and they had the same exact infraction. That is what I do not get... And Austin had the most coveted pit stall.

two different series, & apparently two different sets of rules.
Dont understand why they would choose pit stalls until it was offical. Which would mean after inspections.
When did the NW qualify? Today? Maybe with Cup racing on Sat. it forced them to choose pits before inspections. (lack of time) I dont know. Seems like an odd rule to have different between series.

I did my picks based on Tony being 2nd. Oh well, he loves the challenge coming from the rear of the pack. Maybe that will keep him focused on the racing and not on his love life

This week a cap fell off? Tony is a 13 year veteran. This doesn't happen. Austin Dillon had the same problem 12 hours before cup qualifying and then Tony has the same problem but never in his career did he ever have this problem? Is this WWWrestling like Tony said, in 2009. He's headed for points reduction and fines on Tuesday of next week. Why? He won't recuperate this damage. You've just lost the championship. What a total loss. Our family loves Tony. We wanted him to have what he deserved for so long. !

Cup picked after inspections. NNW did it before inspection for time reasons.

I was just watching NASCAR Race Day and they said there was a little body damage to the 14 which they smoothed out, but when they smoothed it out it cracked the window which also caused some other things.

I summarize.

you guys have to remember that typically Tony rides in the back anyways, for most of a plate race. This really wont do any harm to him, except he might have gotten his bonus point early so he didnt have to worry about it later.
On the bright side he doesnt have to worry about getting caught up in something when he would have decided to drop back.
he will be fine.

Not going to be able to watch the race live tonight. Got other plans. Hope that he will be fine. If he can get his strategy to work out he will be in the top five maybe a win.

But, unfortunately, the "big one" can happen in the front, the middle, the back and everywhere in between.

Once the penalties are disclosed, he may be in a wild card position. I'm hoping that because he has to start in the back, there won't be a points penalty. Daytona or not, that is still a punishment. He didn't race the car, only qualified it. But I guess we'll see on Tuesday. Hopefully he'll get a win today or before the chase and cement a chase position. He seems to do well when his back is against the wall.

There will be no further penlites. In these situations the penalty is having to forfeit your qualifying time. Same for Austin Dillon. The same thing happened to Clint Bowyer this year at Daytona and to Reutimann and Montoya a few years ago and no points were taken away.
