Wow those storms were really bad! It was REALLY windy here....nothing like what was in Virginia and Ohio.. Hope everyone is safe and stay cool!!

IT's HOT!!!! STAY COOL !!

I bet this heat will take a toll on the engines tonight!

The winds hit here in Hopewell, Va about 10:45 pm and lasted about 45 minute. They said the highest gust reached 75 mph. We sat on the front porch while it was blowing "cuz it was coming from the back. We watched a big Maple tree across the street go over and it took out the power lines to the neighbors house. He is in his late 60"s and on oxygen . Went over to make sure everything was all right and told him if he needed anything to call us. Went over this morning and had to remount his meter box to the house and put in a new riser and weather head. by the time I finished, the power comp. was there to reconnect the power lines. All in all, everything worked out okay.

Glad to know you are safe....do you have power? Hope so......it is to hot to be with out.

Prayers to those who lost loved ones in these storms. Pretty scary. We are always at the mercy of the weather.

We're ok & power is back on. Came on while at KY. Speedway. Winds got up to 80 MPH. Huge limbs pounded our roof, have a little damage done. It killed some of my tomato plants when it fell into my garden, my early producing plants too The neighbors won't trim their 1/2 dead trees & the other trees of theirs, they're dangerously tall too. Hubby & kids are outside on clean up detail. I done a lot after the storm taking limbs to the curb for the city to grind into mulch when they come out next week to get everyone's limbs up.

I lost power late friday night and it might not be back on until next saturday. Kind of a blower. The thunder storms were wicked. But brief. Pepco (the electric company most people use my way) sucks badly when there is an outage like this. The governor even had to call a state of emergency. Only reason I am even online is because I am hooked up at Panera Bread.

SS14 hope you get power before next Sat. Also hope you have somewhere to go to stay cool, cause after being outside for a little while....it's hot! These storms were really bad especially for older, larger trees. We have quite a few in our back yard. The good news is that all our power lines are buried. Love the trees for shade, but during a storm, not so much...Maybe Panera bread will let you take up residency. Take care, hope you have friends or relatives who have power you can stay with.

Power should be on the latest friday 11pm. Knowing the power company I will have to wait that long .

It is sooo hot. And my second job is closed (movie theater) because of no power.

Finally got power back today. Was so happy. We need a generator.

The weatherman here just gave a name to this weather we had it is called "Derecho"... Straight line windstorm associated with fast moving band of severe thunderstorms in the form of a squall line that become an echo bow type storm.......all I know is that it makes one big mess and topples trees like they were toothpicks. Lot of debris and limbs down in the backyard. We had another one move through NC last nite... Killed 4 people and lots of damage too. A lot of people with no power. We have an in house generator that will power necessities like refrigerator, heat and air, some lights enough to get us through...it is the BEST thing we have ever bought. So far we have only used it three times, but it paid for itself many times over. Two ice storms and one tornado. Glad to hear SS14 has power, hope Smoke14wins gets their's back soon. It is miserable without it.

I'm sitting here in WV, Smithville to be more exact. We have had no electric since Friday evening and although the National Weather Service says that it was just straight line winds, I know we had a tornado go through the area. My son was telling me about seeing dirt going from the ground up to the sky in a circular motion. Physically we're ok. It could have been worse. We've lost most of our food, the sky light in the bathroom was broken, trees down, no water and the nursing home I work at caught fire (but not too bad). Thank God we're alive.
