MATT KENSETH

Very interesting...

A lot of discussion about the Kenseth situation. I was just on the NASCAR website and noticed a poll as to which one of the five teams he should end up at. So far the results are SHR almost two to one over the next closest choice.

Good thing the polls don't make the decisions. Of course if Junior is ever in them, he wins unless it's a negative subject.

Well I just read that Matt was leaving Roush. So it looks like either Ryan stays at SHR, or ends up driving for a POS team. Ppl mentioned Kurt & other drivers as the top FA, but I always considered Ryan that guy. Until now. I see Matt going to JGR now which means no good rides for Ryan to possibly go to. Which means he is stuck with Gibson & SHR or drives for a rag tag team next year.

Doesnt look good for us Ryan fans anymore.

I do wonder if Jack told Matt he was leaving or Matt told Jack he was leaving. The article I read it almost sounds like Matt was gonna be replaced by Stenhouse regardless.

i think if anything hinders ryan chances of gettin a good ride, it will bein with the joke of a team he has been surrounded with for the last 3 seasons, i thought his first yr with SHR was strong, always competitive, but they have digressed, every since.

I think Stenhouse was a hot commodity and if he didn't sign him someone else would, so he let Matt go. I also wonder if Carl doesn't regret his decision to stay. if they cant get enough sponsorship for a 3rd car, kinda hard to believe they can get sponorship for a 4th car.

It is clear that Roush got cheap. Kenseth is paid alot of money to drive the 17 car. That happens when your a former series champion who is always a contender. With the sponsorship woes and the fact that they probably paid Carl Edwards extra to stay, Roush didn't want to pay Kenseth so much. And Kenseth probably wasn't looking for a pay cut. And why should he? He is worth every penny he is worth. Wrecky is cheaper than Kenseth since he a rookie. So it made sense for Roush to show Kenseth the door and let Wrecky move up. To be fair Wrecky has stepped up his game. Though I don't think he is as good as he is made out to be and won't perform to the level as Matt did when he comes to cup.

To me this is a huge mistake. Matt created a team and made them contenders. The 17 is Matt Kenseth. Kenseth is one of the top five drivers out there. Out of all drivers in Cup he gets the most out of his equipment IMO. Roush should have done everything to keep him. I already wasn't a fan of Roush. This just made me lose even more respect for him.

How true about Junior and polls!

I was wondering if Kenseth would even want to consider S/H after seeing Newman's struggling results since 2010? With a past Champions ego. I doubt Kenseth would be as tolerant as Newman currently is!

RCR let Clint Bowyer go and it is begining to appear as they did him a favor! RCR hasn't done jack squat since the mid 90's and i believe most all that was Dale and explains why sometimes he had to drive the way he did,RCR is a top ten team at best today.Matt has always been my favorite driver at Roush,ok the only one i like,but he is also the one with a championship and leading the points now.Where ever Matt goes,i hope he does better elsewhere and Stenhouse i guess i honestly don't care one way or another.Many ran good in the Truck or NW series,but haven't been all that impressive on the Cup side and like others quite the opposite once they got into Cup, JJ, Tony and Jeff G.for example.Personally,i'd like to see Matt at JGR if not Ryan,SHR sounds nice but i don't know as if Tony can support four car teams,he's having enough trouble with at least two now?

matt could be a good fit here, he has delt with carl edwards for years so if he can deal with him, he can deal with anyone, i dont think there would be a clash of egos between tony and matt.

You are right though.....Champions respect each other and these two would be a hard combination to beat consistently. If Newman doesn't resign, I'd love to see Kenseth come aboard.

that would be awesome if Matt did go to Andretti. It would leave a glimmer of hope for us Ryan fans. Lord knows we could use a little.

It is funny how everyone (including myself) was ready to say that him going to JGR was a done deal. And now it looks like he is going to be with Andretti. This is huge for Andretti to hirer a driver like Matt Kenseth. Not too much drivers of his talent are free agents (only other than him is really Kurt Busch).

As for Ryan it does nothing to his situation. His situation is all sponsorship. If he gets it he stays. If he doesn't he goes. He isn't looking to go.
