POST POCONO.....NO!

How many times have we witnessed the same ending to a race from Newman? Runs up front most of the day and "brain farts" towards the end and looses track position! Come on Team #39 dang!

Once Newman restarted, he got shoved up the track by being on the outside groove and walaw........lost valuable track position!

Newman finishes 12TH! :D

HOW DID YOU SEE THIS RACE? :D

Re: POST POCONO.....NO!

Ryan had a good car today. Just bad calls. To comeback to finish 12th is solid when it could have been worse. Good day overall.

Re: POST POCONO.....NO!

running 12th isnt a good day,( going a lap down and finishing 4th is a good day.) maybe its just time to accept this is as good as it will get, he is a good driver on a mid level team, not blaming fault, it is what it is, every week, people put the blame on gibson, i know i was one of em, but if that is who ryan wants as his CC so be it, i will personally keep low expectations of that team, if they dont start putting some top 5's together well ya can kiss the chase buh-bye, and they have 12 races to do it.

Re: POST POCONO.....NO!

12th isn't a bad finish at all. Just nothing to get excited about. It is a good day because he recovered. Should he have finished higher? I think so. But look where Gordon who also pitted ended up (19th).

Re: POST POCONO.....NO!

this is where you and i always difer, ya to compare it to gordon, he had a better finish, but this isnt the jeff gordon everyone is use to, that team is in a funk, and would take a 12th place finish, now if i was to compare him to his teammate, that in which he out qualified, i say it was a so so day, as the day went on, tony got better, where as ryan digressed, and that seems to be the norm for the 39, they never build on the qualifying runs, its always playing catch up, and ya cant keep doin that if you want to be a serious contender for a championship.

Great observation MJ! :D

Team #39 is as lost as a "baby in the woods!" They play "catch up" all race long then for the grand finally it's always that final magicians act of desperation! They roll the dice and very often come up snake eyes. They never seem to be improving is what get's to me. If it's broke.......fix it please!

Sorry to be beating this poor dead horse over and over again but what else can we seriously talk about? I guess silence is golden but how does that create racing conversation?

Re: POST POCONO.....NO!

I think SHR is still struggling with their adjustments. Steve struggled a lot trying to find whatever Tony needed. I think the cars don't respond to the normal adjustments. I know when Tony said the car is tight, what ever Steve did to loosen it up sometimes would work and sometimes it would make it tighter. Then they would back track and start all over. Tony even said that they are really searching, trying to find the answer.
I also think that because there aren't very many cautions, the pit crews don't really have the time to work on the cars. They just do really fast and quick things so they aren't held up on pit road, sometimes they work and sometimes it throws things off even more.
I really do believe Steve is making good progress with Tony's car. I know that doesn't help Ryan's car right now, but maybe, when they have their team meetings and share the set up adjustments they will find something! Ryan is an engineer, maybe he should be telling TG what adjustments to make. I know that is not his job, but a lot of the drivers do call for some of the adjustments. I don't listen to Ryan's scanner and maybe he already does this. :(

Re: POST POCONO.....NO!

it doesnt bother me if it is talked about every week, just no stinkin onions for the tony fans haha,

i like to talk about the good and bad about ryan, all tho i need to watch how i type it, i seem to #### people off, fact of the matter is for now he drives for SHR and to me SHR is fair game when talking about the problems of ryan, just as another driver i follow and the mistakes they make i question them,

Re: POST POCONO.....NO!

I'm positive about Ryan when it's deserving of him or his race team. I'm negative when it is warranted. I'm not about to hand out happy sunshine commentary just to satisfy another fan out there! I guess it's just all a difference in philosophies.

If I knew Ryan was driving inferior race cars I would expect his current results. But, when I see FIVE times wheeling the exact same cars and winning FIVE back to back Championships. Newman should be top 5-10 about every race! I know, way to high hopes I guess.

Yes I'm well aware about all the OTHER Hendrick teams out there that fall just as short as Newman but I don't care about those teams! :D

Could I do a better job that Tony Gibson? NO OF COURSE NOT!..........But, then again!

Re: POST POCONO.....NO!

I don't mean rain on everybody's parade here about yesterdays race and how Ryan did, but supposedly TG was too sick to be making the calls and somebody else was going to be doing it. Do we actually know if that happened? If it did, then who did they put up there? If it was somebody other than TG, you obviously can't blame him for yesterday.

I just don't know who was up there.

Hey BP!

We are not blaming TG for yesterday as I said in my open commentary. I knew TG was ill. Not sure as to who called all the race team shots? The race results looked to be the same none the less! :D

Please stop by anytime BP! 8-)

well im not sure what else can be done without making changes and that would either involve the CC or the driver, when tony gibson was at tei he was a part time CC, one thing i like about roush is he isnt afraid to shake things up with the CC's, i know we have commented about why didnt darrian just go to ryan's team? i think as time goes by he probably wanted out, but what a way to go out, and now to have denny 19 points out of the lead, D.G. is on the ball and just might get denny his first championship this year, and that would be awesome on so many levels
