Busch fined, on probation for Darlington actions

No. 39 crew chief, crew members from No. 39, No. 51 fined for participation

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- NASCAR has fined Kurt Busch, driver of the No. 51 car in the Sprint Cup Series, $50,000 and placed him on NASCAR probation until July 25 for his actions during the May 12 race at Darlington Raceway.

Kurt Busch violated Section 12-1 (Actions detrimental to stock car racing; reckless driving on pit road during the race; involved in an altercation with another competitor after the completion of the race) of the 2012 NASCAR Rule Book. Additionally, Craig Strickler, a crew member for the No. 51 team, has been fined $5,000 and placed on NASCAR probation until Dec. 31 for violating Section 12-1 (Actions detrimental to stock car racing; interfering with a member of the broadcast media).

Tony Gibson, crew chief for the No. 39 Sprint Cup Series team, has been placed on NASCAR probation until June 27 for violating Section 12-1 and Sections 12-4G and 9-4A (Crew chief assumes responsibility for the actions of his team members). Andrew Rueger, a crew member for the No. 39 team, has been fined $5,000 and placed on NASCAR probation until June 27 for violating Section 12-1 (Actions detrimental to stock car racing; failure to comply with a directive from a NASCAR official). Both of these violations occurred post-race.

Well, well, well! Chad gets 125,000 for a C post, doesn't try to hurt or kill anyone and Kurt gets 50,000 for using his car to plow through the 39 pit, possibly injuring or killing a crew member. Then at the end of the race plows into Ryan's car. Oh I forgot he was taking his helmet off and accidentally just happens to hit Ryan's car. Out of 43 cars he found Ryan's! Probation a joke! Typical NASCAR! I just don't get it.

funny thing is, Kurts CC wanted him to go through the gate, not down pitroad. So Kurt made it down pitroad to run into a parked 39 car, makes it sounding like an accident all the more unrealistic.

MJ, I had a feeling you would take that in the wrong way. The point I was trying to make is that NASCAR in it's own stupidity places more value on a c post, then someone's life. They won't be happy until someone is really hurt. 50,000 dollars is chump change to Kurt. Parking him, is the only wake up call Kurt will understand. Taking away sponsors, , he doesn't have any!! And the guy in the blue jacket should be parked too, outside the gates of NASCAR!

It is ALL about sponsorship and Kurt Busch in no longer marketable to sit in a top notch ride. No way that 51 car races the rest of the season.

Hey Annalee, that guy in the blue jacket also got fined and put on probation, I'm pretty sure his name is Strickland, he does something on the #51 crew and also drives Kurt's Motor Home. I know 5K and probation may not be enough, but it's a start. Kurt isn't going to make it through the rest of the year at this rate.

Ok MJ......I just didn't want people to think I was defending Kurt's actions in the other thread, he screwed up. I still think TG was using it to deflect because Ryan didn't need to know what was happening on pit road while he was trying to get the best finish possible.
