Ryan on Race Hub

Last night on Race Hub, Ryan was very candid in his remarks on his team. He basically said he was part of a winning team, and if he thought they weren't capable of being a championship team he would be at the shop making sure and working with the team to make it possible. "Our team, our organization, Chevrolet, every part of it is fully capable!" said Ryan Newman. Okay Schmoopy, that is basically what my new Ryan friends are saying. They think and some of them are in the know, that Ryan has his best chance of his racing career to win a championship . There is no other team that has the stats that SHR has. 8-) What say you?

Re: Ryan on Race Hub

I am not sure how claiming Tony Stewarts stats & combining them with Ryans shows that Ryan has a championship team. I have never questioned their equipment.
As far as Ryan & those associated with the team. What else are they suppose to say? We have no chance? As long as I have been in racing, I have seen those too close to the situation not have a realistic view. In our divisions of racing most of the teams claim a chance to win the championship. It is a mentality you have to have. However those of us that arent invovled in all those race teams can see that we have only a couple guys with a realistic chance to become champion. So this thought process from those close to the team isnt out of the ordinary.
Now I do believe this team has done better than last years team to date, & they are stepping in the right direction. However I think a lot of fans will take the kneejerk reaction as this over the hump. Which they are not even close.
The team still struggles on 4 tire stops.
The team still struggles to get the handling down. Now this race they were close, but I still think TG is afraid of over adjusting & therefore never keeps up with the track, so they are always chasing the handling. Which is why you never see a dominate car from the 39 team but you do from the 14. Addington knows what he wants to adjust & thinks forward, not just now.
Ryan had about a 6th place car & won with circumstances. So the same issues are still there. Now life for Ryan could be worse, but I am very happy for the win. Doesnt mean the #39 team is now up there with the championship caliber teams. There are things I am noticing this year that I like, but that will be posted on another thread so I am not just repeating myself. Like said before by seasons end, I would love to have to eat crow. Right now I see baby steps in the right direction.

Re: Ryan on Race Hub

Those words were spoken by Ryan and I feel he really likes everything he has there,ie crew chief, pit crew and team, and if he didn't, he said would fix them. He was thrilled to get the clock and said it was always something he had wanted and had been working for it for a long time! I can't wait to hear what he says tonight!

yeah, I thought it was great when he said he really missed being on the show (Victory Lane)
Yeah I know he likes everyone he is dealing with. I have never heard of any animosity between the SHR teams or members. (just us LOL)
He is good friends with Tony, He is good friends with Tony 2. & apparently he likes Zippy & Addington as well. (how can you not?) More people for him to talk shop with
Since Stewart jokes he doesnt understand anything they are saying & Ryan has to draw pics for him LOL.
Ryan has grown ups to talk to now! Image

I tell customers all the time everything is great where i work, couldn't be better,we have the best shop in town. Now how much do you all believe? Steve Addington would have been perfect for Ryan, but i guess Ryan gets the same everything. :? Doesn't matter,Ryans win was more exciting than Tonys two wins together!
Harvick may as well bring the #29 with him,he's bringing all the sponsors!
#2 #29 #39

Loved Ryan on RACEHUB last night. Very candid, and quick on his feet and very funny! I didn't realize how bad the relationship with Rusty was. Loved his remarks on Tony and Brooklynn is priceless!

Re: Ryan on Race Hub

Brooklyn is absolutely adorable. Ryan is very sweet with her; I'm sure he's a great dad. (Love that she seems to love Tony, too...very cute.)

I always enjoy Ryan's interviews. I love that he is candid and he's very funny. I didn't realize (or, remember) that his relationship with Rusty was sour, either, Annalee. I wasn't surprised but then again, I've never cared much for Rusty.

Schmoopy--- I tend to agree on TG being wary of over-correcting and not quite keeping up with the track. It is a very good team and obviously a very good driver, great equipment, good relationships, etc. but there is just something off just enough that they haven't been to championship level. I like TG and I do think there are signs of possible improvement. I'm hoping this win will give him and the rest of the team some extra confidence that they can put it all together, make good calls, and win more races. I did like the call for right side tires at Martinsville.

Re: Ryan on Race Hub

Rusty has ever liked any teammates, & with Ryan. He was quiet (back then) but up front with his thoughts. Rusty probably hated Ryan more than any of his other teammates. Rusty didnt like Mayfield either. new guys with new set ups & Rusty couldnt/wouldnt change with the times. Ryan had way more success than Rusty which made Rusty even more mad. Even to the point of blaming Ryan because their set ups were so different they couldnt use each others notes (not that Rusty ever shared his notes anyways) He questioned why even have teammates like Ryan. Obviously Ryan didnt care for Rusty either.
Funny how Rusty blamed Ryan, & how it has come full circle. Tony said during the chase last year & relied heavily on Ryans notes. Ryan has been on teams where he wasnt appreciated, & finds himself on one know where he knows he is appreciated (for what he brings to the table) Which is why I know he wont leave. Even though there are times I wish he does.
Simply put Rusty has always been an A$S

Re: Ryan on Race Hub

Ryan was also on tuesday and will be on wensday for that matter. But on tuesday I thought his thoughts on Tony Stewart wanting to settle down were interesting. I don't want to talk about Tony's personal life, but what Ryan said made alot of sense, would take a special kind of women and special kids to be with Tony considering how busy he is. And Tony Stewart is a house hold name, how many people want to be with him just to be with him, and how many want him for the $$ and all that goes with it.

But anyway Ryan seems to feel that he has all the pieces to be successful. Watching and listening to a driver talk you can kind of tell if that driver is comfortable with their current situation with a team, and the way Ryan sounds, I think he will retire at SHR because he knows this is as good as it gets. He just has to make it work.

Rusty just never liked the whole teammate concept. Same with Dale Earnhardt. They are old school that way and wanted to focus on them. Rusty didn't get into the whole multi car thing (it was still a pretty new concept heading into the 2000s as only Roush , Yates and HMS were multi car teams for years and Gibbs, RCR, and Penske had just became multi car teams). Ryan winning 12 times from when he was Rusty's teammate until he retired and Rusty winning only once certainly didn't help. Rusty has an ego, that was clear, he wanted to regarded as top dog, and he never was able to out perform Ryan as a teammate.
