Ryan was also on tuesday and will be on wensday for that matter. But on tuesday I thought his thoughts on Tony Stewart wanting to settle down were interesting. I don't want to talk about Tony's personal life, but what Ryan said made alot of sense, would take a special kind of women and special kids to be with Tony considering how busy he is. And Tony Stewart is a house hold name, how many people want to be with him just to be with him, and how many want him for the $$ and all that goes with it.
But anyway Ryan seems to feel that he has all the pieces to be successful. Watching and listening to a driver talk you can kind of tell if that driver is comfortable with their current situation with a team, and the way Ryan sounds, I think he will retire at SHR because he knows this is as good as it gets. He just has to make it work.
Rusty just never liked the whole teammate concept. Same with Dale Earnhardt. They are old school that way and wanted to focus on them. Rusty didn't get into the whole multi car thing (it was still a pretty new concept heading into the 2000s as only Roush , Yates and HMS were multi car teams for years and Gibbs, RCR, and Penske had just became multi car teams). Ryan winning 12 times from when he was Rusty's teammate until he retired and Rusty winning only once certainly didn't help. Rusty has an ego, that was clear, he wanted to regarded as top dog, and he never was able to out perform Ryan as a teammate.
