I used to watch Indy race there, in the late 80's and there were no "Jumbo Trons" or TV for the crowds back then. You just had to wait.... for a few thrilling seconds and it's over until they come back around. You had to really keep an eye on the scoring tower and listen, to know what was going on, elsewhere on the track.

I might be going this year ... just to pick up some Sonoma SWAG for a few friends. If anyone wants anything, hit me up. :-)

P.S. I don't care who buys it, who re-names it... Sonoma track will ALWAYS be SEARS POINT RACEWAY, to me. :-)

They're doing an Indy race there this year...can't wait to see that one

Ok... O U C H ! ! ! LOL

Sonoma may rock... on TV... but sucks to watch in person. :-(

Wait, wait, wait... here they come! There they go! Wait, wait, wait.....here they come! There they go! LOL

There is an art to watching road course races. And if you figure it out they are some of the best racing you will ever see. Sonoma is an awesome road course I wish it were in the chase.

Aug 26th -

Indy® Grand Prix of Sonoma
Friday, August 24 - Sunday, August 26, 2012
IZOD IndyCar® Series

The IZOD IndyCar® Series hits the rev limiter as the cars and stars of the Indianapolis 500® invade the Sonoma Valley for the eighth consecutive year at the Indy® Grand Prix of Sonoma, Aug. 24-26. Drivers like Will Power, Dario Franchitti, Helio Castroneves and Tony Kanaan will reach speeds in excess of 170 mph on the most challenging road course on the circuit. Sparks are sure to fly when these rocket ships blast around the serpentine circuit. You’ll enjoy a full weekend of racing with the return of Formula Car Challenge and the SCCA World Challenge Series.
````````````````````
If I am able, I'll try to go to this too, for any Indy fans who want Sonoma swag. :-)
Re: Aero tracks
yes, they're doing Sonoma, the long course as usual, but they're also running at Auto Club Speedway September 15th...at night :D
The CART series ran there some years ago, when Penske still owned the track, that is where the indycar speed record was set at ~ 241mph :D
