What an awesome thing to be able to follow jsw14.I doubt if a cat or any other animal would have a chance with the adult owls around. Perhap a reporter at your local newspaper would help you with looking for funding the project. I'm sure you would have a lot of interest in the following.

Cool pix. Where I used to live near Sparks, NV there is a pair of owls who live at the Home Depot in the garden center. For 2 years we followed these owls and their offspring baby owlettes. They didn't seem to mind us gawking at them and I thought it was curious that they didn't find a home more private. Owls are sure interesting.

Turns out I have to drive a few miles to an old burned out oak tree that has a nesting pair of owls in it. They are not the horned owls tho. Around here ( in Cali ) we keep those owls secret. Last time someone pointed out a nest...the forest service removed it and gave it - owls, nest & eggs - to UC Davis animal studies. That broke a lot of local people's hearts. Yes we're sure the owls are getting A-#1 treatment at UCD... but a lot think they belong in the wild and to make their nests where they see fit.

Might want to keep this on the down low for a bit... I'd be a little paranoid about getting gov't or county, city, state involved. Try and find an owl club and seek their advice. ? ? You can always contact UC Davis too and ask them a few questions. UCD didn't take the owls from the home,,, they simply received them and care for them .

They sure were checking YOU out, weren't they. The dark strip across their eyes makes it look like they are wearing masks.
