Spring Bristol Race!

In a press conference last week at Bristol Motor Speedway, Food City officials announced a one-time name change of the Food City 500 to honor our long-time President and General Manager Jeff Byrd, who passed away last October.

The March 20 NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Bristol will be called the Jeff Byrd 500 presented by Food City. Steve Smith, Food City CEO, was joined by 12-time Bristol winner Darrell Waltrip and nine-time Bristol winner Rusty Wallace in making the announcement.

Also during the event, Food City and Bristol Motor Speedway announced an agreement to continue Food City's 20-year partnership into a third decade, extending for three more years the second-longest race sponsorship in NASCAR.

On behalf of the Byrd family, Bruton Smith, the entire staff at BMS and the best fans in NASCAR, we say, "Thank you Food City!"

RIP Jeff Byrd......
