My opinion. Tony, as a racer, of course wants to get into the chase and wants his team to be the best on the track and in Sprint Cup, even over Ryan. It wouldn't be fair to his crew or SHR if he approached it any differently. I think Tony made that clear when he said if Ryan was blocking him on the track he would spin him. They are both racers and that is what they do. I don't think Ryan would answer any differently. Now, Tony also has the luxery of being an owner, so, when he complains about his CC or his crew, he actually has the athority to do something about it. Not many drivers do. Don't forget that Ryan and Tony meet after every race to discuss the race and the happenings.
Sometimes I get on the "conspiracy theory" bandwagon and think that Tony would take the best people, the best cars, the best...etc etc, if it came down between him and Ryan succeeding. But, as we get further into this, I don't think Tony would do this at all. One, Tony is an owner, the more successful the SHR teams do, the better it looks for SHR. Two, I think Tony has more respect for Ryan than that and that Ryan has more respect for himself than to let Tony do this to him. Ryan is a sharp guy and would know if things were coming out of the shop uneven intentionally. Don't forget, as far as sponsors go and who is gettting them, sponsers have a choice as to whom they want to sponser. Tony has always been bigger in the spotlight than Ryan has. It may be a simple case of the sponser's wanting on the 14 over the 39.
I've heard Ryan say that he would not want to be an owner because of the head ache's you have to deal with. That being said, there is only so much that Ryan can do other than complain and wait for corporate to do something about it. The good thing is he has a boss on the track, in the seat, each week that I believe listens to him. As far as the cars or the crew, I still tend to lean torward replacing Tony G. I'm curious to see if Matt Borland can do anything with the cars as far as building into them more adjustability, but again, I've seen Ryan have a car practice and qual well, just to fall back and run mid 20's during a race. That points to setup issues during the race. I'd like to see a change there.
