INDIANAPOLIS (AP)—The Indianapolis Motor Speedway president and CEO says ticket sales for this year’s Brickyard 400 are “soft” and it’s likely there will be more empty seats this year than last year.
Jeff Belskus spoke to The Associated Press on Tuesday. Belskus believes declining interest has been spurred, in part, by the economy. But he says the 2008 tire fiasco also hurt sales.
The event had the lowest attendance in its 17-year history in 2010. However, Belskus says the Brickyard will be back on the NASCAR schedule next year.http://sports.yahoo.com/nascar/news?slu ... ardtickets

I have to admit I am one of those people that quit going to the Brickyard after the tire fiasco. It's hard to pay for plane ticket, rental car, hotel and cost of race ticket and justify as to whether or not I'd have to deal with the tire issue again. Maybe I'll go back some day.

The tire fiasco certainly hurt, but they still will easily have over 100,00 there. 99% of race tracks around the world would kill for that attendance. So all is not bad.

they already plan on brining back last years tire, sp that is a good thing, the 09 race was a joke, i dont think nascar or goodyear ever wanna deal with that again.
