Knockout Qualifying

What are every ones opinion of the new format? I leaves a lot to be desired IMO. I felt knocked out from the start. Why have a draw for position when drivers went out random. If that is strategy someone better get a dictionary out. From the sounds of the new format I was expecting more of a pack qualifying. If this is the way it will be every week they just lost a viewer for qualifying.

Better system would be 3 groups going out for 15 minutes then the top 4 from each heat run a final 15 min. heat for the pole. Could allow a 15 min cool down period between the last heat to make it fair for the last group.

Re: Knockout Qualifying

I agree. If this is supposed to make folks wanna watch qualifying, well, it failed to impress. Sure, the old way was monotonous; but this is not the answer. I predict changes will hafta be made before the Martinsville race at the end of the month, probably after Bristol.

Re: Knockout Qualifying

As I said many times before fans DONT CARE about qualifying as hardly any show up to watch it or do viewers at home? Fans that want to watch, want one thing--BETTER RACING--that's ALL. All this shows is Nascar is lost and searching but as I said, nothing can make fans want to watch if they simply aren't interested--end of story?

Beside as we saw each car getting its Q laps in isn't that different except that some have to cool the engine to try again for better results or to make the top 12 etc, and then cool down and try again for the Pole etc, so could be tough on engines at some point as I believe was addressed after qualifying?

Re: Knockout Qualifying

I agree what a stupid way of doing it. The way they had them lined up and let them go out, I'm amazed no cars collided on pit road. They also had no speed limit on pit road. The way they had to cool the cars put them in the way of people trying to get a good lap. Nascar needs to fix a few things it sucks watching.

Re: Knockout Qualifying

I don't know if everyone knows this but it was on a 15 minute time delay just incase something happened and that Fox Sports televised it as live on air.... Which leads me to believe no one really knew what was going to happen......and the time delay allowed them to fix anything that might have happened........  I am like the rest of you it was much ado about nothing!! sorry not really a fan!!

Re: Knockout Qualifying

I was not impressed with this attempt at the new Knockout qualifying. It was really sad that Fox claimed it was live and I new who was on the pole before they even started the last part of it. It was all over twitter. Nascar really needs to tweak this for it to be what they dreamed it would be.

Re: Knockout Qualifying

well the qualifying show itself, stank, i think thats because danica was 33rd and was no where close to the top 12, had she made it, the show would have been the highest rated show in the history of tv.

Re: Knockout Qualifying

Like I said on the Kurt channel...denny left some out there.

It wasn't a good show at all until Danica went out. Then they showed her and Gibson so it was all good.

Re: Knockout Qualifying

Well dang.....

It's tough being the odd man out here....
*no sticks and stones... Please*

SO.......... I liked the knock out qualifying system.
I suspect it is going to be modified a bit at a time in an attempt to
make us *the fans* happy.

To me...
1. I liked not having to wait for the guys I was interested in seeing
get on track.
2. I liked the drama of watching who was going to make the cut.
3. I liked the fact that my guy had as good a shot at the *sweet spot*
qualifying moment as the next guy.
4. I liked that my guys had a chance to change the car if what he
thought he had was not quite right.

What did I not like..... Dang.... nothing occurs at the moment.

I am guessing that the powers that be, are watching all the serious
race fan posting boards. As a result of our, and other discussions
I would bet you are going to see changes in an attempt to make us
all happy. We ARE their life blood. No fans, no sponsors, no sponsors,
no money, no money.......... no racing.

Their number one job is to make us happy enough to spend money
with all the sponsors..... who pay for our racing enjoyment.

OK......... throw the sticks and stones.... :D
I'm going into witness protection program....
