Sprint Cup Format vs. Old Format?

Hi everyone!

I thought I would try to get some discussion going...

Do you prefer the new Sprint Cup format or the old format? Why? What are the advantages/disadvantages of each?

:)

hboyle I think you are a nice poster that has came across here, & one of the more pleasant Danica fans around. Which is a nice change.
So I will give you my short answer & not my long winded one.
I cant stand the Chase. Absolutely no reason to have playoffs in auto racing. I choose the Old format. they who were the best that year is the champ.

Re: Sprint Cup Format vs. Old Format?

Thanks Schmoopy1000! That really means a lot to me. :)

I completely agree. I'm a fan of the old format because I think that the person that has been doing well throughout the season should be considered champ. Just wondering what other people might think.

This is another question I meant to post but didn't:

In what ways has the Sprint Cup Format benefited some while disadvantaging others? Just for discussion. ;)

oddly enough the chase started because of Matty, he had such a big lead, nascar want to spruce it up, so they wouldnt lose fans to fball, it is doin more damage to the sport right now, i think with the current point system it would be good to eliminate the chase, but not until JJ gets 8 ;)

Re: Sprint Cup Format vs. Old Format?

They should go back to the old format and start the fast or big buck teams in the rear of the field!
The next thing they should do is go back to a lot of the old rules they threw out, like racing to get your lap back rather than the lucky dog! Dangerous or not, the lucky smuck took away from a lot of the racing.
What would really be swell Is everyone has to buy a crate engine from their own manufacture, not the high roller teams.
The multi-car teams also have to go, two and two only. :D

Re: Sprint Cup Format vs. Old Format?

To me the old format was fine but the Chase is more exciting. I think it is actually more difficult to win the chase then to win it the old way. One slip up in the Chase means you are typically done. Like the ESPN commercial says, with the Chase, being perfect only means you have a chance.
