Schrader to retire from Cup racing

ESPN's Allen Bestwick, during coverage of Sunday's race from Martinsville Speedway, said #32-Ken Schrader had told him that Homestead would be the last NASCAR Sprint Cup race he competes in.

he may not have won a bunch of races, but he brought a lot of laffs and class to the sport.
I will miss you Frehley........

Re: Schrader to retire from Cup racing

Thanks for the memories Kenny. He has always been a favorite of mine not only as a driver but just being Kenny. I never missed a show when Allan, Kenny and Johnny Benson did a talk show about racing and any other thing they could come up with. The man has a sense of humor that doesn't quit and passion for the sport and the people that not many people have. Where ever the next road leads you Kenny I hope it's a happy one. He'd make a great ambassador for NASCAR. :) :) :)

He is one of my favorite drivers. I am sad but at least he knows when to hang it up in the cup series. I hope he continues with the smaller tracks. Wish Waltrip would take a hint....

No, then that means I don't have to get rid of my Boyd's bear that is wearing an orange # 20 suit.

Re: Schrader to retire from Cup racing

I don't understand what has happened to Mark Martin's driving. I thought he would be a great replacement for Tony but his record for the past few months has been the worst ever. Sure isn't doing much for a part time ride unless it's a "start and park" after the first lap. Perhaps he'll go back to Arkansaw and run the family business.

Re: Schrader to retire from Cup racing

I thought he would be better too. I didn't expect him to win every race but at least a little better than what he has done. You can retire from the Big Boys in Cup but still continue on the small local tracks. That would keep the racing thing active in their lives and make room for the up and coming drivers.
