short track stats

With his win Sunday at Bristol, #18-Kyle Busch remained a part of an exclusive group. Busch, #48-Jimmie Johnson and #11-Denny Hamlin are the only drivers to have won the last 15 Sprint Cup races at Bristol, Martinsville and Richmond, the circuit's lone short tracks. The last driver other then those three to win on a short track was #99-Carl Edwards in 2008.(Sports Illustrated)(3-22-2011)

I remember times when there were only 4 cars on the lead lap.
Things have improved this decade with that, lucky dog for 1, and here recently the wave-arounds. The brakes they run now are a lot more tolerant too.
It's getting tougher to win on these little tracks, a lot of strategy involved on pit road, and you never know when you'll get caught up in something. But unlike the RP tracks, a lot of the damage is fixable, and aero doesn't matter much.

Slap on a bunch of tape and send 'em back out.

Takes a licking and keeps on ticking. (tells ya how old I am) ;)
