This should be an interesting project..... kinda neat that the lead researcher on this comes from Purdue and has the same degree that Ryan has from the same school......

Bill Simpson tackles football concussions with new helmet: Bill Simpson, the former California drag racer, Indianapolis 500 driver and motorsports safety innovator has created a football helmet that he and others believe could revolutionize the sport. Simpson knows this because he knows what he's talking about when it comes to making safer helmets. Researchers believe it because they have seen data charts. "Most helmets succeed at distributing force over a large area, but [Simpon's helmets] actually absorb the energy and dissipate the force more effectively," said Eric Nauman, an associate professor of mechanical engineering at Purdue University. Is this the same Bill Simpson that received all the death threats after Dale Sr died? He's had a couple of companies manufacturing safety equipment that he's sold. If it's the same guy, I'm glad he hasn't quit looking for safety improvements

I hope they figure something out, and apply it to all helmet wearing sports

They could also add stiffer penalties and suspensions for some of the plays that take players out. Anyone grabbing a helmet and throwing a player down should not beable to play the rest of the season and the first 5 games of a new season. Charging a fine is a crock as the players have more money in chump change and they'd never miss it.
