No racing tonight?

Well if the forecast is right.

That is a bummer. I am actually off tonight. And I was almost about to go to the race. But my girlfriend is busy. I really hope the race runs tonight. Or else I am going to have to dvr it.

I just got this from a friend of mine who works for the National Weather Service. I had him pull up the weather forecast for tonight in Richmond. This is the short version...trust me. His was close to 300 words.

Showers and Thunderstorms likely this evening. Some Thunderstorms may have severe and damaging winds. Chance of rain is 75%

There is a Thunderstorm warning in effect until 10pm.

There was a possible tornado in NYC this morning that did cause damage in Manhattan and Queens. I read about that earlier today in one of our local papers that is constantly updated throughout the day.

Their weather report is not nearly as severe, but it is calling for rain. Take a peak.

Dang! Not looking good according to the NASCAR WX-MAN:

"First half of the day will be partly sunny, very warm and humid with afternoon high temperatures expected to reach near 90. A strong cold front will push across Virginia during the day bringing with it showers and storms. It is expected to arrive in Richmond between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. with a line of strong storms and showers. This is obviously a problem because the NASCAR Sprint Cup race is scheduled for around 7:30 p.m. EDT."

Looks like after this cell there is a clearing. NASCAR_WXMAN says he is seeing more of a possibility of racing tonight. Perhaps it is just an hour delay.

One hour. So we are looking at 8:45pm for the start time.

Oh not to worry...ABC is still showing a bloody football game and it has more than 14 minutes left in game which means it will still take more than an hour. ARGH !!!
