haha, perception is correct. I don't like it when people being interviewed don't look at either the camera, the person asking the questions, or the audience they're in front of. The perception is they're being dishonest or lacking conviction. He's entitled to his opinion, but calling something shady when there's no rule against it makes you a crybaby. I like Brad but he's dug himself into the squealer hole and I don't think he's coming out any time soon. Fact, no rules were broken, period, end of story. Seems like he thinks HMS gets away with all kinds of things. Problem with that is they're one of the most penalized teams. Don't kid yourself, if it was against the rules, they'd have been called out on it. HMS is always under the microscope cause if there's an advantage to be had, Dr. Knaus will find it and Mr. Hyde will implement it

I understand why NASCAR tightens the rules. They don't want a team (Hendrick even at times Roush, Childress and Gibbs) to go out and just be head and shoulders better than the rest. But at the same time every car runs nearly the same speed and that hurts the competition. This is why is has become so hard to pass. Can't pass if the car in front of you is running identical lap times. Take in to fact that the quality of drivers is at a all time high (of the top 35 drivers 29 have won at least one race and 24 drivers have won multiple races.) Would like less down force so these cars could have less grip. That would put it more into the drivers hand.

And I totally get what Brad is saying. At a local dirt track when one of the top cars has an issue being weighed in, the officials will take them to the side and give them more chances than say the average car would get. There is this one super dirt late model driver who got restarts better than Tony Stewart did last year. He would just yard them. Clearly he was doing something that no one else was and might have even been bending the rules. But the track did nothing about it.

When we were in the LLM class there was a 2 car that was just head & shoulders better than everyone. Even his car smelled different. yet he never got busted for anything ever. We with a small motor won a race & the next weekend we raced we ended up hurting the motor & finished a lap down (like 8th or something) & the top 5 always pull in for inspection. We were waved to the infield for inspection, because they said we yarded the 2 car & we had an illegal engine. Well everyone knew we had a far less less engine than most of our competition. Our Engine guy was #### & told them to tear it down & we would prove it to him. The offical looked at him & said I can tear it down if you want, but no matter what we will find your engine is illegal. Well we knew we were being penalized no matter what. You see we were a rookie team with the points lead with 4 races to go. We only had one win, but we never broke down & always finished decent. The track promoter sold the 2nd place guy a car promising him it was a car good enough to win a championship. 2 car wasnt in the championship hunt because it had so many light weight parts it had enough DNFs to take himself out of it. He would win or break for the most part. he even had hendrick parts in it. Think it was just funny. Everyone in the pits knew we were a rag tag team wishing we had more in the car & we got busted, & the 2 car everyone in the pits knew wasnt even close to legal has never been busted. Well ended our season we boycotted the track for the rest of the season. For the Happy ending though, the guy they were trying to give the championship too, had trouble & a female LLM driver ended up winning the championship. Soo HAHA we got the last laugh LOL
But I have seen track politics at every local track I have ever been apart of. Didnt necessarily effect me but every track has it in a corrupt way. Another track the promoters son raced & was shown major favortism even to the point of driving dirty & at this track they didnt allow any wrecking of other cars, the other guy always had to go to the back. (except him) Dont know what rules he was breaking knowingly in the car, because he wasnt in our division, but you always heard people grumbling in the pits.
So if nascar shows some favortism it wouldnt surprise me, but they put forth a lot of effort in making it seem they dont show any.

Yeah tracks don't want a rookie team with less money coming in beating someone who is supposed to win the championship. You mentioned that person even had Hendrick parts. That is insane. There are people at my track who run ECR and Roush engines (they also have NASCAR haulers). I would always ask my self (why don't they just run World of outlaws or Lucas oil?).

At the same track I mentioned with the late model driver, the track owner (who also owns another track that he pours all his money in while he leaves this track kind of in shams) runs mini stock and has another car. So clearly those two cars dominate the series and he would win nearly every race. It got so bad where hardly any cars would show up for the mini stock class. But one guy from new york came along, he was just as fast as him and won the race. But they deemed his car was illegal so he was stripped of the win and the track owner won.

I think NASCAR will always cater to the bigger teams. And Hendrick makes the most revenue of all teams. I do think NASCAR also tries to be fair. But these things will always come into question.

Wow Schmoop, that sounds awful. I would never have thought anything could be so blatant. Growing up in SoCal, the only dirt track around was for motorcycles and Irwindale was a bit of a drive at that time. I loved the motorcycle races, nothing better than the sounds of a HD or Thumper racing. There is nothing quite like that sound. I can't count the times my butt fell asleep thanks to the hard wooden grandstands on a Friday night, but I would do almost anything to experience that again. I won't mention that fact that we used to smuggle in a bottle of Schnapp's to put in our coffee or hot chocolate. Good memories, gotta love em! Gone are the days of Ascot Park. They did host the Grand Nationals but that was before my time. I only ever saw the mc racing and I still miss it.

thing is at these local tracks some of the bigger teams brings in money so they always will be catered too. It isnt always a personal thing between the promoter & another person. most times it is just out of getting more money. Little teams doesnt bring that, the bigger fan favorite teams do. Well at our track what he didnt realize was how many fans our driver had. he came up from street stocks where he had a big fan base & a lot of those fans boycotted the track whenever the LLMs raced that evening for the rest of the year. They even called us up & asked us to come back, but we didnt until the next season.
There was almost a super huge fight over it between three teams, & I mean huge!!!! So many people that the Sherriffs didnt want to get in the middle of it, just wanted to escort everyone out of there. Easily well over 50 people. But that is another story
