Sorry SS14.

Doesnt look like Jamie Mac is coming to SHR any time soon. Looks like he will stick with EGR.

[Earnhardt Ganassi Racing owner Chip] Ganassi has a lot of new people and a lot of new systems he put in place prior to this season, understanding great change was needed. He expects to struggle to some degree as most organizations do during the transition stages. He is hopeful because he sees progress within that few of us can see on the surface. "Are we where we want to be in the points? No," Ganassi says. "Are we where we want to be performance-wise? No. Are we happy with the people we have and direction we're going? Yes." EGR is in better shape than a lot of organizations on things that count. It is solid with sponsor Target for #42-Juan Pablo Montoya, and optimistic McDonald's and Bass Pro Shop will be back with #1-Jamie McMurray. EGR isn't looking to make driver changes, with Montoya already signed and McMurray close to a new deal. "We're in the middle of a process now," Ganassi says. "That process is going very well. While all things are not apparent to the eye on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, back at headquarters in Charlotte as a NASCAR team everybody is very excited about where things are going." Ganassi is asked: Can you expand on those things? "No," he says.(in part from ESPN.com)(7-27-2012)

Re: Sorry SS14.

Notice that McDonalds and Bass Pro Shops have not signed back on at this point either. Why sign a driver if you have not secured sponsorship...especially when they are your two major sponsors.

Because they want him to stay?
Notice Ganasty said they are close to resigning both sponsors. It is quite a process to resign these companies.

Some sponsors have said that before and then have gone in a different direction...I would not count on anything be a done deal or close to a done deal until they sign on the dotted line. Just sayin'

Re: Sorry SS14.

well looking at it from the other point of view. What SS14 says makes sense.
A lot of times the Sponsors will wait till they have the driver(s) they want signed before committing to the team. So it wouldnt be surprising to see the sponsors sign up once EGR has their drivers signed.

Could you imagine if a sponsor signed with Roush thinking they would be on Kenseth's car & all of suddden find out after signing, that Kenseth is leaving the 17.

Not abnormal for sponsors to wait for the drivers signings 1st.

Re: Sorry SS14.

Ganasty and Jamie are pretty good with sponsors especially Ganasty (Target). And say if out of the blue both sponsors don't comeback, I could see Ganasty piecing something together for Jamie like it seems Tony is going to do for Ryan. That is how much he wants him to be on his team.

But like Sschmoopy said sponsors usually wait for the driver they want to sponsor to be resigned before anything. McDonalds came to EGR because of Jamie and Bass is from his home state. So they are probably going to wait to make sure McMurray doesn't go anywhere, then resign. Similar to Truex Jr and Napa being resigned to MWR.

I rather Jamie go elsewhere, EGR seems to be at a dead end. But who knows they could return to their 2010 form next year.

Re: Sorry SS14.

EGR seems to be as good as what ECR engines do. ECR seemed to be off a little this season. So if ECR becomes as good as before, you can expect EGR to do better. If ECR struggles next season, then you are probably in for a long season as a Mac fan.

Re: Sorry SS14.

Maybe one of those sponsors could be on the 39..........I can't think of anyone better than Ryan to drive the Bass Pro car. At least Ryan has a chance of being the chase and they would have a better chance of being in Victory Lane.. ;) There is a picture of Ryan teaching Brooklyn to fish, what a great commercial that would be. Food for thought.....

Jamie's # wins since 2006: five wins
Ryan's # wins since 2006: four wins

Not so sure the opportunity to win would suddenly jump up if they went to the 39. But SHR is certainly way better than EGR.

Re: Sorry SS14.

Ryan's odds of running up front are much higher than Jamie's and the sponsors get a lot more visability when running up front. They all can't be Kevin Harvick also known as "Mr. Where did he come from" by driving from mid pack and finishing up front if not winning in the last few laps.

From 2006 to present Ryan has 75 top 10 finishes.

During the same time frame, Jamie only has 51 top 10s.

Re: Sorry SS14.

So for the most part their stats are close. And Ryan is on a better team too (not cc wise but equipment wise). In the time span since 2006 Jamie has beaten Ryan twice in points, the other times belong to Ryan.

Ryan has five top tens this season. Jamie has three top tens. Only thing that separates Ryan is his win (which was by luck but a win) and a few top fives.

Sponsorship also goes with personal relationships. The fact that Bass is from Jamie's home state and he and the CEO go fishing and hunting together makes it go deep.

Anyway this is all conjecture if Bass Pro shops wanted to be Ryan's primary sponsor Ganasty wouldn't have said they are close to resigning Bass Pro shops and we would have heard a rumor. The article pretty much shoots any possibility of that down IMO.

And to add for future reference... since 2002 Ryan has won 16 races to JMac's 6. There's some cool info on driveraverages.com......go have a l@@k
