Bayne and Logano up for 22 ride in 2013

Tue Jul 10, 2012 5:24 pm

other drivers supposedly under consideration for the #22 ride in 2013 if Allmendinger doesn't return to the ride include Trevor Bayne, currently driving part time in the NNS for Roush Fenway Racing and in Sprint Cup Series part time for #21 Wood Brothers Racing and Joey Logano, who is likely out of the #20 Joe Gibbs Racing ride after this season with Matt Kenseth taking over the #20 Toyota with Home Depot and Dollar General remaining as the sponsors for the #20 JGR team.(7-10-2012)

If Dinger loses his ride, I think it would be cool if Bayne got a shot in the 22 car.

Absolutely, I thought Bayne was getting the 22 last year at one point. But Roush wouldn't let him let him out of his contract. Maybe since they will be Fords in 2013 that would make it easier for him to go there.

Still think Hornish Jr will end up in the 22. Roger has already stated that he wants to Hornish Jr back in Cup in 2013 and believes in him.

Logano to the 22, Newman to the 20, Kenseth to the 39 with Borland as Crew Chief :D 8-) :P

ya bayne needs to get out of RFR, because he will be stuck in the NW series as they peice sponsorship together, just like they did with matty, and if i was matty id be offended, he is the only one of the three who won a championship, but roush had to make sure carl got most of the new sponsors, and biffle is makin a free fall in points, i think ol jack put stock into 2 drivers who cant get it done...

I'm not counting AJ out, yet. We'll see what the B test says. But the best person for the #22 Ford would be Bayne. He deserves it more than Logano and way more than Sam. All Sam ever did was wreck. Trevor gets lots more positive attention than Sam ever will. The only reason Sam is in the top 10 in points is cause the Cup drivers don't get points when they win in that series. He's 33 and Bayne is what, 21... Nuff said 8-)

Sam got a bad rep for wrecking a lot in his early cup days. But he went from being the man in Indycars to having to learn something completely different in a short period of time. He has since became a good driver. He is a serious nationwide championship contender. It took more starts for Ricky Stenhouse Jr and Trevor Bayne to win a nw race than Hornish. I have no doubt that he will be a better cup driver the second time around if he gets into the 22.

And the fact that Sam has done so much in his racing career by the age of 33 shows how talented he really is.

On Aj for a second: what makes him screwed is that the B sample is from the same test. I see no reason why the B sample would come up negative while the A sample was positive.

the reason they do that, is just in case if there was a screw up on the procedure. Not to give him a chance to give a clean test. So if they accidentially tainted the 1st sample, they have a back up sample to retest.

its rare when i do this but i agree with SS on sammy, like i mentioned in a thread, that many open wheelers struggled when coming to nascar, tony bein the exception, but sammy was #### on wheels in the indy series, and ya he maybe 30 some points out of first, but those are the rules now, eliiot sadler was average at best in cup, now he is can win a championship, so everyone benefits from the new scoring system. i dunno why i like sammy, but i do, yea he causes a bunch of wrecks, even when he took out JJ in texas early on in the chase, its best he stays in NW to get that confidence back and maybe one day, rejoin cup, also i think he does a heck of a job on speed, its nice to hear someone speak proper English, instead of hearing a sentence start of with "ya, umm ya know what i mean."

Well Duh! He's got a lot more experience than they do. A 33 year old driver is not the future... And he still wrecks. With all his experience he should have a lot more wins. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it!

Think we're gonna see Sam in the #22 regardless,Bayne will probly take the Stenhouse ride in NW and JGR will add a fourth team for Kennseth, while we all wait to see if HomeDepot wants a change or not and hopefully they do and it's Newman or SHR finds a good sponsor for him.Have heard alot of rumors floating about Andretti starting a Cup team, but nothing to confirm that as solid fact.

Who is a big enemy of Rousch? This will be the team that Kenseth is heading to. The Dark Side Remark really was a slap in the face to Matt. No matter where the guy goes he'll be better off as Rousch has a history of tossing drivers under the hauler.

Toyota is Rousch's enemy. I think he was trying to "slap" Matty with the Dark Side remark, but Matty "slapped" first by getting a new ride. And yes, Jack does throw his drivers under the bus. I'm so glad Matt is out of there and, like Bowyer did to RCR, rubs it all in their faces next year. :D

Oh,i couldn't agree more about either driver or owner,RCR makes room for the grandkiddies and Roush aside Edwards and Stenhouse Jack could care less about the rest of his drivers as proven over the years with the exception of Martin.Roush just lost his best driver far as i'm concerned!
