What drivers does the GP know?

I did a little study amongst people I know to see what drivers are most known outside NASCAR fans. I thought the results are interesting. There are two groups, house hold names, and "I have heard of/know who he is.

House Hold names:
Dale Earnhardt Jr
Danica Patrick
Jeff Gordon
Tony Stewart
Jimmie Johnson
Kyle Busch (that surprised me, alot of non NASCAR fans are interested in seeing Kyle's meltdowns)
Carl Edwards (being the face that NASCAR wants helps him as he gets on alot of non sports t.v programs)
Mark Martin

I've heard of him/know who he is:
Kevin Harvick
Ryan Newman
Jamie McMurray
Juan Pablo Montoya
Matt Kenseth
Kurt Busch
Kasey Kahne
Brad Keselowski
Denny Hamlin
Trevor Bayne

Kinda surprises me that Jamie Mac & Ryan Newman are on that list. They are low key so for non nascar fans to know who they are surprises me.

I wear a Ryan Newman hat & no one ever puts it together "Nascar driver" I am just always asked if I am in the Army.

Ryan winning the 2008 Daytona 500 and the fact that he is Tony Stewart's teammate has boosted his popularity I think.

Jamie's 2010 season made him really popular too.

I think that goes to show you how the Daytona 500 can make you well known. For that year and maybe a year after that you get a good amount of t.v time and coverage. I forgot to put this on the list at first, but alot of non race fans also know who Trevor Bayne is too.

That's because Trevor is so cute!

Good question. They'll all remember Jr, Danica, Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart and JJ I believe. Maybe Carl and Kyle if they win championships. The people I asked also knew who Dale Earnhardt Sr and Richard Petty were too. Those guys are pretty much A list celebrities. The drivers on the list of I've heard of them/ I know who they are,, well they'll simply have to give more reasons to be in the spotlight.
