Practice speeds this morning For SHRish

Ryan 3rd fastest, Tony 4th Fastest. Not sure how they long run cars were handling.
For the race a lot of people will be paying attention too.
the 10 car Reutimann, was 16th fastest. Who is 4 points behind Cassil & must improve one points position by the race end to get in the top 35.
Casssil was 30th fastest, so if the race ends anywhere near where they are practicing, the 10 car should make it into the the top 35 just in time.

Re: Practice speeds this morning For SHRish

Its been a while since they started this top 35 thing, and maybe I have forgotten the rules. I thought a car could drop out of the 35 during the season and another car would take its place. But some of the comments I've read lately make it sound like you make it in after 5 races and you're good for the rest of the season. So, our group of experts, will you please refresh my memory? If it is a lock for the season, I like the top 35 even less. Theoretically, a start & park could drive into the top 35 and sit back and have a starting position the rest of the season. What does the panel say?

the 1st 5 races of the season are the only time the top 35 are frozen. After that. it is a race by race thing. So all year long teams will be fighting to get into or stay in the top 35 in points. Now this is owner points not driver points.

Thanks, Schmoopy. That's more like I thought it was. Don't know where I got the idea someone was saying they would be locked in for the season. I've questioning the need for the top 35 since it started and would just as soon they cancelled it. JMO

Re: Practice speeds this morning For SHRish

For the first 5 races, they use the top 35 from the end of LAST season. Starting in race 6 they use the top 35 from the races in the current season, which can change from week to week.
