After the Indy debacle, Goodyear has built a tire that is very durable. No real tire issue like blow ups, but since they don't give up, not alot of passing.

Oh, OK, I won't, Lisa. I couldn't resist... just once.

I like the OLD Bristol, saw it for myself back in 2009 and loved it. I've never felt so much power, energy and excitement as sitting in those stands surrounded by thousands of people watching the mixing bowl at work down below. At the same time, we the fans are not the only ones feeling the pinch of a bad economy and high fuel costs. I forget quite often how much money it truly takes to transport a team week after week all over the country, not to mention the cost to build said team. Do I think Bristol changed soley at the request of the fans? Nope, I think it also has to do with the teams and their sponsors. Who wants to shell out millions just to end your chance at a win within the first 50-laps of a race?

I personally have an interest in seeing NASCAR around for many years to come, but if the wrecks keep happening and cars are lost and the expenses keep rising without a few payouts here and there, NASCAR will quickly become part of our cultural history and no longer a reality.

It's the same with the changes NASCAR has made this year on the cars. So many wrecks, so much money wasted! Maybe the "new" wrecks will bring the fans back to the seats, but at what cost to the sport? Let's give Bristol a chance to let the drivers have their day! If we start the race with 43 cars and finish the race with 43 cars, you can bet your @$$ that the winner truly was and is the best of the best!

I have been to both the "old and the new" Bristol and I will admit that the old was more exciting. Thunder valley was an experience. You had to know someone to get tickets. The crowd was packed into the stadium like sardines in a can. It was sold out all the time. There was a different kind of excitement in the air. The old had more of the bumping and the banging. The crowd loved it, they were really into the race. Now it is just not the same. If you have never been to the old, and had just been to the new, it is still a great time, but the old was an "experience" and the new is just another race. JMO
They say you can never go back to exactly the way it was, but knowing what Bruton Smith has accomplished in the past, it will be fun to see what he comes up with. I guess we will just have to wait and see!
