Re: Start and Park tactics to hold advertisor hostage.

NASCAR and their lapdog lackeys in the motorsports media carefully craft the personae and reputations of the players in their racertainment. Squeaky-clean King Dick Petty once, when Chrysler changed body styles in a major way, tried to sell race car fenders to the parts department of one of Bruton's dealerships -- no bolt holes, headlight mounting tabs, etc. He said they were brand-new factory parts.

Ol' DW (and AJ -- Foyt, not dinger) had their Friday qualifying runs disallowed in 1978 (Michigan, I think) for running nitrous oxide. Yet he comments on Cheatin' Chad's antics.

Stolen parts, sponsor shennanigans, and driver dumps have always been, and will always be, a part of the sport NASCAR makes sure we don't hear about.

I was asking for more verification because the person just joined the site today and this is the first post. Seems more like someone who is out to slander not provide insight.

Re: Start and Park tactics to hold advertisor hostage.

this poster even went as far to find a thread from March 2011 (can't imagine how far back that thread was buried, even though they probably just typed his name into the search box) and posted that very same post in there before making a new thread about it.

Honestly, slander all you want, it's no hair off my rear end if Morgan extorts money.

I don't think Morgan Sheperd even has a sponsor, and if he does isn't it usually a church and, or just a bible verse. Usually Tony gives him tires just to be able drive his car. :?

yes... Morgan Shepherd has 2 sponsors....

Jesus and Goodinfo,.com

Doubt he was on the phone to Jesus....

On his racing page ge lists as sponsors -

Wix Filters - Mobile One, Eco-First.com - signs-2-u and Heavenly body

Take your pick who you think he may have been arguing with.

Fans for Faith sponsors helping keep Shepherd racing

CONOVER, NC - Fans For Faith sponsorship has been a great success or Morgan Shepherd’s racing. With seven races remaining in the 2011 campaign, opportunities are still available to be a VIP sponsor of Morgan's #89 NASCAR Nationwide Series team starting at $289!

Packages incude your personal name, company, business or organization name on the car for the race of your choice, a team t-shirt, and a VIP pass to become a personal guest of Morgan Shepherd on race day in the pit and garage area.

"I tell ya', I really appreciate these fans!" says Shepherd. "I was a little skeptical at first on the idea of a $289 sponsorship. But we've had fans who just want the opportunity to be in the pits for a race or to meet Morgan Shepherd. There has been a lot of generous people who have paid more than what they have to just to help us out. Its been a great help."

Shepherd go on to say, "NASCAR fans are the best in any sport. We've had multiple fans on more than one occasion come to the race and then send us a donation in the mail after they went home. We try our best to show them a good time and give them the thrill of being part of the team as our guests. Some of the fans are not Morgan Shepherd fans. Just race fans wanting that thrill of being a sponsor and that's OK. It helps us out a lot. We're doing all we can to hang in there and without sponsors we have to be creative."

After finishing 24th in The Virginia 529 College Savings 250 at Richmond this past Friday, Shepherd's team has to prepare and plan for the final seven races on the schedule, starting at Chicago this weekend.

"Things are really tight right now for a lot of teams," says Shepherd. "Fans For Faith helps get us there and I want to personally thank the fans for their support. We have to make these races and I'm not sure we would've without the fans."

Shepherd is currently 21st in driver points and has competed in all 27 race events to date this season. Shepherd's team is also guaranteed a starting spot for each race if he is able to show up, something he has been able to do so far, but not without the worries.

"I sometimes don't know how we're going to get to a race. It is so tough, but I'm proud of the fact that we're still here and I'm proud of my guys for their hard work. Others have not been as fortunate as us. And I'm very thankful to be doing this still." Shepherd amazingly will turn 70 year of age in October.

Fans who want to be a Fans For Faith sponsor and be a guest of Morgan Shepherd can contact the home office at 828-256-2194 in Conover, NC.
