Jimmie Johnson is a class act

Sun Oct 30, 2011 7:36 pm

For sure not a fan but that was pretty cool how he raced Tony in the last 3 laps. He gave him a tiny shot coming out of four on the last lap but nothing that really hurt him. And after the race saying that he didn't want to race Tony dirty not only because Tony always races him clean, but also because Tony is contending for the title and he isn't. That was pretty cool of him.

I gotta agree w/ya.....whooda thunk that, huh? JJ is a class act and DID do the right thing. I truly believe Tony would've done things the same way. Props to the FORMER Champ.... ;)

i didnt get to see the race, but that was cool, jj is a good guy, he is misunderstood, he cares a lot about the sport and the fellow drivers, and has a good sense of humor, and MW he still the champ until the end of homstead :P

I think if Jimmie had spun Tony out, then you would have seen Tony take Jimmie out at one of the upcoming three races. We all have seen how nasty Tony can be at times. Remember Tony and JPM last year at Homestead. Tony knew had nothing to lose and nothing to gain. So it became a ... how many times can I run into him before he is out of the race.

jpm is a total jerk tho, he doesnt respect anyone he races, doesnt matter if your first or last in points, if he can spin ya out he will, and that is a shame he has talent, but it gets lost in his attitude.

Jimmie is a class act. I know a lot of people here don't like him but he races the way you should race. If a guy is contending for the title this late in the season, let him be. Thank you Jimmie.

I may not like Jimmie Johnson but I do respect him as a driver.
Most of the time he is very respectful of other drivers.

I'm glad to see others post this as well....as I was about to if it wasn't. I was very impressed with what Jimmy said and how he said it. And we do know that Tony would have raced him cleanly if the situation was reversed. That's the kind of thing I like seeing - especially right now. When the championship isn't on the line, I'm all for "have at it, boys", but, I was very thankful to see how this played out yesterday.

It'll be very nice to see Tony bookend JJ's titles.

He should have, Tony's raced him clean too. I remember Richmond in '08, Tony was on a 39 race winless streak(so you KNOW he wanted the win, as per his reaction after the race). He ran MULTIPLE laps on JJ's inside and never touched him. Woulda' been REAL easy to turn him at any point during that run, but Tony didn't touch him...it's good to see "payback" isn't just a negative term...

There's too much at stake for any of the top five especially to do anything stupid, unfortunately for Vickers he was anything but smart and not even in the chase.P*ssing car owners, drivers and fans off isn't going to help land him a ride for next season.JJ isn't one of my favs but i can appreciate talent and he's a good guy,i just hate he wins all the time.

I had NO like/respect for J.J. until that race he could have EASILY
WREAK Smoke and took the win but he DIDN'T. Now I have RESPECT for
his Driving Ecthics.... :!:

I respect Jimmie as a driver. But I don't respect Chad as a crew chief due to his shady background as a CC.

It's his job as a CC to push the limit to the rules. Now when it comes to shady that would be MWR.....how many times in the last few years have they been penalized for unapproved or outright illegal(the fuel).

Jimmie is a class guy, I just wish he would be himself more and bow to the PR people.

I saw Jimmie come to victory lane and congratulate Tony before he got out of his car. Nice. Still a class act. :D :D :D :D
