A lot of press has been made about the recent triumphs and failures of the NASCAR stars racing sprint cars on dirt. The two biggest of which were first Kasey Kahne, who suffered an incredible crash at Williams Grove Speedway (You can watch the video here). Then Tony Stewart who won his first ever World of Outlaw Sprint Car Series event.
Recently at the Lou Blaney Memorial at Sharon Speedway, Tony Stewart, Kasey Kahne, Dave Blaney, Dale Blaney and Ryan Blaney sat down before the event and discussed what sprint car racing means to them. You can tell from the interview that Sprint Car racing means so much to them. Kasey even said that sprint car racing is what got him into racing, “That’s how I got into racing, was my dad worked on a sprint car and then he had his own sprint car that he had billy drive.”
Tony called the times that he gets to sit in a winged sprint car as “vacation”. The race would be won by Sam Hafertepe Jr. Dave Blaney would finish 3rd, Dale Blaney 5th, Tony Stewart 9th, and although he would set fast time in qualifying Kasey Kahne would finish 14th.
