Please explain Tony's NH pit stall selections

Can someone explain to me why Tony would pick the #25 pit stall for the NH race when he he had 2nd choice of location? It seems like there were some much better stalls he could have selected from. I looked at the selections on http://www.jayski.com/stats/2011/pitsta ... 11pits.htm and I can't figure out why he wouldn't have chosen #19, #18, #29 or #28. Maybe he wanted to be close to the camera for the sponsors, maybe it has something to do with being the first stall past the start finish line or maybe it has to do with the timing lines. Any opinions?

Re: Pit Stall Selections

In my opinion, the sponsor idea is absolute non factor. The best way to market your sponsors is in victory lane, not pit road. I would think the timing lines is th main reason why Darien picked that selection. Any seconds, or tengths for that matter, that can be picked up on pit road are huge especially at a track like Loudon where there is usually alot of long green flag runs.

I realize the camera/sponsor comment isn't really a factor. Thought I would throw that in just to stir the pot...lol

Re: Please explain Tony's NH pit stall selections

Not sure why either. Maybe because the stall would have just a bit more room with the camera or maybe because that is where the start/finish line is. could be some strategy to gain bonus points by getting the lead on pit road??? IDK :?
