Me too Schmoopy. And this is no knock on my racing pen pals on here.
I judge my racing by what I see as results. Ryans' first NASCAR employer was Roger Penske. Well, when your starting out in NASCAR. You will drive for "ANY" race team. Only problem there was Ryan having to deal with veteran driver/part owner Rusty Wallace. Very few people knew that Rustly was indeed a partial owner of the #12. I know this to be fact! That's why if Rusty didn't like ANYONE driving the #12(Mike Wallace,Jeremy Mayfield,Ryan Newman)he would do his best to make sure they were not as successful. Rusty "ratted out" Matt Borland publicly if you remember about Matts special carburetor he had in use with Team #12 that gave them great gas milledge. He was simply jealous folks. Never under estimate the ego of another driver/owner folks! This is all well documented by Ryan. So that being said. Ryan did his very best AS A DRIVER for Penske Racing South! The rest was out of Ryans control.
After years of struggle with a million changes going on in Nascar and Newmans race team. It was time for Ryan to go.........and he did!
I was super excited about Ryan coming to S/H! Hendrick engines/chassis partly owned by a super Champion Tony Stewart. But, the only missing link was. Who would be Ryans crew chief and support racing crew to make Ryans cars go and stay fast each race day? Very few of us even remotely know anything about the "behind the scenes" race shop people.(They are VERY important)Also, how good would Ryans pit crew be? Again, very important!
Tony Gibson was a disaster folks...sorry. Newmans pit crew was very mediocre and then you can thrown in all of Ryans epic bad racing luck while we are piling on here.
So, then we hear of Matt Borland and an entire new supporting crew coming into 2013! A re-newed excitement was happening in Newman land! But, Nascar decides to bring in a brand new Gen.6 race car design. I knew then, it was going to be an extreme challenge for Ryans new crew. Matts been "out of the loop" for many years folks as a crew chief. Now he has a brand new car with a brand new race team. No notes in a computer to go to folks. It's like he and Ryans "rookie" first year together! And so far, the racing results have shown this to be very true!
So, now I'm oddly glad that Ryan will have another new employer with maybe a much different approach to racing things. If not, it will be just more of the very same thing! Newman is way over due in things going his way. What does any fan want for there racing hero..........................that's right!
