All things Ryan

Ryan was around 15th but stayed out for a long time during green flag stops. maybe they were thinking fuel stratergy not sure why, but they did lead a lap, my worry was how much time he would lose once he pitted. Well the crew had a lugnut issue putting him a lap down during the green flag stops. But before that he was running the same speeds as the top 5. Took him awhile to get his lap back. His car was crap on the short runs but everyone else fell off faster than him as the tires got older. As he said after the race "that was hard fought"
He was loose all night & when they got it to where it was just a tic loose off, it hurt his entry making him tight. However he was able to drive it so the last two stops he didn't want to adjust it & kill his exit. So he just manhandled it the rest of the way. he was able to take 5th for a brief moment after one caution. But the last two stops for the 39 team were horrible. He said after the last stop that put him 11th. "That hurt"
He seems to always gain on restarts so he got up to 8th before the good cars got by him later, where he managed to hold onto 10th.
It is obvious though SHR still doesn't have the handle on this new car yet. I am happy he held onto 10th. besides the 2 races he had flats & the blown engine. he has all top 10's. he drives his heart out to get them, of course Dilner will just say he is lucky. LOL

ya im not sure what the deal is dilner, but the other dude with the glasses, cant think of his name, he is quick to dump on ryan, they did make a good point on raceday, where larry mac said adding a 3rd team can push teams as a whole back 6 months, because they focus more on the new team, either way you slice it, SHR engineers have work to do...

Congrats to Ryan on a top ten finish. He drove his butt off to get it. As far as Bob Dillner is concerned if he knows so much or is such a great driver why isn't he competing. BD is just a wanna be blow hard who starts more controversy than accurate reporting.

Great job Ryan and the #39 team
A well deserved P10 finish. Thanks for salvaging an otherwise awful day for SHR. Although, I doubt it will be enough for him to save his job come 2014. Very sad.

No doubt about it, Ryan DROVE to that P10 finish. Like you said, he manhandled the car most of the day. He took care of his tires well, and overall, had a very good day. Hopefully by the chase, for WHEN he makes it, they'll have made improvements to make a serious run at the title. Gonna need a win or 2 though during the season for a decent starting position.

17th in the points standings - up 6 spots.
The other 2 drivers still at 22 & 26.
Way to go, Ryan!

It's something at least. I'm not ready to give up on him this season (even if SHR is). I hope Ryan gets in the Chase and then wins it all. It's his time. And it would be ironic considering he may not have a future ride dialed in.

Tl without a doubt that would be the story of the last 10 years...... it can be done, just needs to be in the chase and after that, anything goes.

Considering where Tony finished!
The so called greatest driver of this era in Cup?

I don't think we need to really stress just yet. he can actually make the chase without winning honestly. Prefer wins, but I am just sayin'
If you takeaway car failures (3 of them & two DNFs) He has all top tens & SHRs only top 5. I believe SHR as a whole will get better as the season goes on & even with all the bads luck he has had, he is only 37 pts out of 10th & a ton of races to go. just one small streak of non bad luck & he is there. He also is only 2 pts behind Gordon & the media is claiming Gordon to be a title contender while saying Ryan is Struggling & just getting lucky. Well imagine when he stops the so called struggling. BTW the only kinda luck Ryan ever has is bad
. I cant wait for him to stop getting lucky
The media likes to build Perceptions of the drivers for the unknowledgable fans. Those that pay attention knows a lot of guys are still in this thing.
he hasn't gotten his cars right yet, but atleast the 39 isn't out to lunch on the handling. Tellin' ya. its only gonna get better as the season goes on.

Newman got a very early qualifying draw so I knew then he would not qualify well.......and he didn't! Newman needs to step up his qualifying efforts. He looses so much in the pits these days and he knows it! There are some tracks pit stall selection DOES matter............
Try not to worry about Ryan not being mentioned or recognized from the Nascar media. They have no vested interest in Newman other than his primary sponsor Quicken Loans sponsoring certain racing segments. He may get a little mention from those commercial spots? It's pretty obvious who the announcers care about from week to week.............
All teams in my opinion are struggling to a degree with this new car. Some find the balance faster than others but then the tracks and the tires change everything in a hurry. I'm sure it's a nightmare......
I don't want to "crown" Team #39 just yet. Tony can come to life at any given track. He's the boss and a fierce competitor. He won't tolerate his current position very long before heads will roll. I think Newman and Borland are on their own island trying to get a grip on these new cars. It may be mid summer for consistency to appear?
Still, a good effort with a lot of mistakes thrown in as always. Business as usual!
