BEST RACE OVERALL THIS YEAR SO FAR!

As you all well know. Being a working man. I have to DVR all races. Makes it tough to join in on the conversations till much later in the day! No racing this coming Sunday.............

I have been up and down on this race team for very obvious reasons and rightfully so! So, when I heard Matt was re-united with Ryan and that Ryan would have a completely new support team plus the brand new Gen. 6 car I was excited. EVERYTHING was new for Ryan Newman in 2013! We all know the horrors of having Tony Gibson as Ryans CC all those years....just look at what he has done for Danica!

After the two back to back DNFS. I couldn't help but feel, here we go again! But as the typical Ryan Newman "roller coaster" MO would have it. He recovers at Bristol with a P7 finish.

Wasn't really sure about how well he would do at this past Sundays race either by seeing the practice numbers? You can bet. If Newmans struggling in practice. There is no magic wand that can be waved over his car for it to gain tons of speed race day! His only prayer is the faster cars wrecking out ahead of him on the speed charts. You know it's true............

But, I was pleasantly surprised to see this new Team #39 put the puzzle together without pulling those previous "desperation" moves like staying out on bald tires and getting smoked on the re-start and all the hand waves of other drivers as they blow by Newman till he reaches his final destination mid pack some where or worse as per usual!

The race itself had all the drama we love about racing. Without the drama. Races can be uneventful and boring. Tony's scuffle was classic and Ryan finishing 10TH made it a good day over all. Newman moved up a little as he is 20TH in points. It's "baby steps" folks but the baby seems to be learning to walk much better as we progress!

P.S.Tony mentioned in his post interview about "little rich kid Logano" heck smoke, that sport if full of little rich kids. I hate that about the sport but it is what it is I guess. Menard's daddy is worth 6 billion or so...geeez!

you know if you listen to the stooges on TV. Ryan is having a horrible year. Yet when they talk about Gordon it is a slow start but fully expect him to a chase contender.
There is only two drivers with more top tens than Ryan (several tied with him) that is Brad K & Dale Jr.
Ryan has SHR's only top 5. & three top 10's, yet when they talk of SHR it is only Tony & Danica. The media is really starting to get under my skin.
The only funny thing I find in all this is that Danica is ahead of JPM in points
When there isnt a DNF Ryan is batting a 1.000 for top tens.

but if the sheep believe the stooges, then ryan is a dead duck doomed driver. (who leads all SHR drivers)

Re: BEST RACE OVERALL THIS YEAR SO FAR!

a very enjoyable race to watch overall, this new car actually raced well overall, the leader could never pull away (this car does seem to hit a wall for sure) - but with a wide track it worked. Single-groove tracks like Phoenix, and even Vegas to a degree - the racing is just single file. But here people could move around and pass.

First time in a long time I can remember Ryan's car have true speed in it, at a big speedway like this. Still the Gibbs cars seem to be on top, but I'll take it. Crew did great yesterday also.

I know what you mean Schmoopy! Newman often is over looked or not mentioned when these so called Nascar shows show a chart with his name on it. WHY! I have no clue? :? That's been going on for years. All I can figure is there old bored men on medication........

I never know if he's struggling for engine power or just much better balance to equate to more speed or both maybe? It's often very hard to tell with so little inside information.

Lets be truthful. It's not all that enjoyable watching a race where the leader checks out and half tracks the entire field. Unless that leader is YOUR favorite driver.

We can only hope S/H will get things figured out quickly because Tony will never be able to catch up with Joey for his revenge!

Thanks for the positive reply! I'm only human I guess. Was wondering how well Newman would do this year with so much re-arranging. After the two back to back DNFS. They have rebounded nicely so far? :D

Wouldn't you love to be a fly on the wall in that conversation.......Ryan looks like "the cat that swallowed the canary"!!!!!!!! He has such a dry sense of humor. Maybe Matt just told him about the new suspension parts. ;)

Those two have been friends for many years.

I hope they hit on something with the new suspension parts? Time will tell! :D
