POST MARTINSVILLE!

Sun Oct 28, 2012 5:17 pm

Well, Ryan finished better than his boss with a P11 finish! :D

Newman went a lap down and still pulled off a top 15.....I will take it! :)

Kyle was behind Newman but no retaliation so far?

Matt knows Newman needs more speed that is painfully obvious! :?

I know if Gibson was still in charge. No way Newman gets a P11 finish?

I hope to hear about the scanner talk.............

Welcome back Matt! 8-)

P.S. Congrats to Jimmie Johnson(feeling nauseous) simply the best!

Kyle had a good car and was focused on having a good run and going for the win. Ryan said they talked and I believe it's over, for now at least :D

I'd like to hear the scanner talk too...

All things considered, Ryan had a decent run. Much better than the boss man...

Would have been nice if Kyle took JJ out for the win and add some more excitement or drama to our sport.

i think kyle leaned his lesson frm the hornaday deal, besides the ending was just fine on my end.

i dont expect much from ryan for the rest of the year, look at it as them two getting to know each other again.

hahaha, I did yell at the TV when he got real close to JJ's bumper. I think he took a second to think about it and changed his mind. He does have to race with all these guys every week, not like the trucks...

Besides, I had JJ to win and am really loving the 162 points I got

For the Ryan fans who listened in on the scanner, were they able to adjust on Ryan's car and make it better for him? Was the pit crew better with Matt? I am trying to figure out why both cars were one and two laps down at sometime during the race........at least Ryan finished a little better but still not great........but really they all need some spark......

I honestly feel Ryan's team was in much worse shape than realized! There may be more changes needed to further improve Newmans race team in the off season. 8-)

I think Annalee that the race leaders were so much better than most of the field that they were able to put many cars laps down. It looks more obvious on smaller tracks. :D

Newman may need a better pit crew? Also, it will take Matt a while to get things organized to his liking but the wait should be worth it! ;)

I still say Newman looks under-powered and Matt said in an interview the very same thing. Well he said,"They need to find more speed!" You can gain that in only so many ways? :?

Can't wait till this election is OVER........................................................

There is just something missing from the whole picture on both teams......I wonder if they have given up on this car and are waiting for 2013 and the NEW car?? I don't know!! The pit crews need a refresher course! Or maybe new blood! I still say there is a reason the Hendrick cars run better!

I hear you about the election.......you are in Ohio and I am in North Carolina.....I don't even watch local TV.....I never thought I would say this but I would enjoy just a regular commercial! I have voted early and at least the telephones calls have stopped. Only one more week!!! :)

whatever the case may be I'm still worried/surprised that the cars this year are so far off from that of Hendrick. I truly believe that after Tony won the title last year and the early success SHR had this season, especially after the first Martinsville race where Jimmie and Jeff got booted and Ryan won, that something changed in the HMS relationship with SHR. This team looks more like Haas-CNC racing with top drivers right now.

I feel like MWR is getting more help from Gibbs than SHR does with HMS, I know Toyota has forced that relationship, but it obviously worked this year.

So to me it seems something drastic has to change in how this company sets up their cars, or Tony needs to have a serious talk to Rick H. about what's going on, and what the future should hold.

Yes, Ryan's car had no speed all weekend. He was either really tight, or the motor was weak. If you watched he was entering high and arching the turn as much as possible, he seemingly should have been able to come off the turns with a lot of momentum doing that, but guys were able to get underneath, stay low and power right by him.

(Don't try to tell me SHR is getting the same power the HMS cars do!)

again it is widely known that tony and steve sit in on the HMS meetings every week since the chase started, now what they do with the info is on them not HMS....

So you really believe there is an "open book" with HMS. Just looking at what happened at Martinsville yesterday, and this whole year since that first race there, would tell you something totally otherwise.

Not much SHR can do, they are going to have to be their own team and figure out what they can. Maybe the problem is they relied too much on HMS and now that they're not getting anything from them is why they hit a slump.

I never have been a big fan of buying a competitors engine/chassis in Nascar! You don't want to think conspiracy theory but this is a very competitive sport involving lots of money. ;)

If you think about it. Look how many copy-cat Hendrick chassis/engines are out there but look at how many of them are successful? At that point. You have to rely upon a very creative support race team..........like the #48 and they ARE NOT giving ANY information out to anyone! 8-)

I think Matt will bring Newmans team a much more creative way of thinking with the new cars in 2013! He's done it before..........

When it came to the pit crew. They didnt lose a single position to anyone on the same pit type. (2 tires or 4 tires) Now I chalk that up to them having a good day. Cant see how Borland would make them better in a week, but this is how they were last week.

As far as Ryans car. All the adjustments they made never made the car better. It confused them for half the race, how the adjustments werent doing anything at all. In fact moving the trac bar actually made it worse, so during the green flag stop they dropped it back down & added a rubber, which helped the car from rolling over. They never could fix the tight condition though & Ryan thinks he figured out what was going on over half way through the race. THe told Borland that they couldnt fix it on pit road but believed the camber was wrong. Borland went over everything that they were doing & all the symptoms, then told Ryan, yeah that makes sense. Ryan asked what tony was doing & Tony had the same problems.
The thing that got me excited though was the ton & I mean ton of talking they were doing back in forth the whole race about the car. Even when Ryan was doing his list of adjustemnts he thought Borland also had his own ideas. Borland never said I dont know or we are trying or Im sorry. They definitely seemed like they were on the same page & both were thinking (a lot) about the car.
One other thing. Ryan at one point was 2 laps down in 29th position. That used to be a death sentence to this team as far as ever seeing the lead lap again. Ryan finished p11. Borland is capable of adjusting his game plan on the fly as well, which I was relieved to hear.

I dont expect miracles out of the 39 team with this change. Teams dont just turn it around in a week, but the communication was awesome to listen too for once. Just to bad they couldnt fix whaat was wrong with the car in the race. They would have had to go behind the wall.
Like I said before. I am fine with Ryan struggling the rest of this season if it means getting things going back in the right direction, for next year.

yea tony got 3 wins with a new CC and ryan got a win with a horrible CC, some teams would find that to be a successful season, btw it was tony who said they sit in on the meetings, so is he just lying, so people can blame HMS for the so called bad seasons for both tony and ryan?? i dont see how when things goes bad its has to do with HMS, maybe its the personal that work at SHR and they dont know how to translate the info they get.
