I am so happy for Ryan, I had to post this here also!!!!!!!!

From Jayski

Stewart-Haas announces 2013 crew chief lineup: With an eye on 2013, Stewart-Haas Racing is restructuring its team lineup beginning with the Sprint Cup Series race weekend at Martinsville. Tony Gibson, currently the crew chief of the #39 U.S. Army/Quicken Loans team of driver Ryan Newman, will move to the #10 GoDaddy.com team of driver Danica Patrick. Gibson will get a jump start on the 2013 season by serving as Patrick's crew chief during her last two Sprint Cup races of the 2012 season - Nov. 4 at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth and Nov. 11 at Phoenix International Raceway. Matt Borland, currently the vice president of competition for SHR, will add to his duties by returning to the role of crew chief when he takes over the #39 team beginning at Martinsville. Borland served as Newman's crew chief for five years when the two were together at Penske Racing (2002-2006), earning 12 wins and 37 poles. The 2013 structure of the #14 Bass Pro Shops/Mobil 1 team of driver/owner Tony Stewart and crew chief Steve Addington will remain unchanged from 2012.(Stewart-Haas Racing)(10-20-2012)

That's right folks, it's HAPPY DANCE TIME :!: :!: :!: :!:

Here's a little more that wasn't on Jayski, but on the NASCAR website...

Greg Zipadelli, competition director for SHR, explained the restructuring.

"We have a lot of talented people at Stewart-Haas Racing and as we grow, it's important to place people in the proper roles to get the best out of everyone.

"Tony Gibson has been with Stewart-Haas Racing from the beginning and knows what it takes to build a team. His experience will be crucial to developing the No. 10 team and Danica, and the rapport he already has with Matt Borland and Steve Addington will make the communication between all three of our teams seamless.

"Matt Borland has had great success as a crew chief, and much of it came when he and Ryan Newman worked together. Matt and Ryan both have engineering backgrounds and they have similar mind-sets. It's a pairing that produced some very good results and there's no reason why it can't produce similar results now that they're back together. Their four races together this year will position them very well for 2013."

Thank you Zippy! For this alone, you are worth your weight in GOLD!

Tony Gibson will leave Ryan Newman's car after Sunday's race to become Danica Patrick's crew chief in the No. 10 Chevrolet for her final two Sprint Cup races this season, Stewart-Haas Racing officials announced Friday.

Matt Borland, the vice president of competition at SHR, will add to his duties and become Newman's crew chief in the No. 39 Chevy, starting next weekend at Martinsville, Va.

The moves are being made now to get a jump on the 2013 season when Patrick starts her first full season as a Sprint Cup driver.

"We have a lot of talented people at Stewart-Haas Racing,'' said Greg Zipadelli, competition director at SHR. "As we grow, it's important to place people in the proper roles to get the best out of everyone.

"Tony has been with Stewart-Haas Racing from the beginning and knows what it takes to build a team. His experience will be crucial to developing the No. 10 team and Danica.''

Gibson will work with Patrick for her two remaining Cup races this season -- Texas and Phoenix -- to help prepare for 2013.

Borland served as Newman's crew chief for five years when the two were together at Penske Racing (2002-06), earning 12 wins and 37 poles.

"Matt and Ryan both have engineering backgrounds and similar mindsets," Zipadelli said. "It's a pairing that produced some very good results, and there's no reason why it can't produce similar results now that they're back together. Their four races together this year will position them very well for 2013."

Is it any coincidence that Ryan has a big chit eating grin on his face? I think not!

That interview just a few minutes ago was the happiest I've seen him in a long time. I'm hoping that this news will bring in more funding also.

Can we please skip Kansas and go straight to Martinsville? I'll take 0 points...

I just read this on Facebook and I immediately thought of none other than Schmoopy. I figure he's either dancin' or grinning ear to ear, lol. I'm happy that the change is coming sooner than later.

I am assuming Borland is CC just for this year? Hard to figure out by what i read. he is still getting a new CC next year, or is Borland gonna do double duty next year too?

I think the rifff between Ryan & TG was getting bigger & was gonna have to be done anyways, but as a few of us mentioned, it is still a smart thing to do since ryan really isnt racing for points anymore, & Danica will have a couple races left. I am just glad they are making the change now instead of jusst the two races.

I'll be honest though. Borland CC again (all of a sudden) I do have concerns with. Since these cars are so much different from when he last CC'd.

Now if the poster that always posts the happy dancing Beagle, could post it on this thread it would be much appreciated!

It says their 4 races this year will position them very well for 2013. To me, this means they're getting a jump on next year so it sounds permanent to me. I think Matt will be good, he is VP of Competition so he's very much into the cars.

I know it doesn't seem like it but I am happy, happy, happy...

I took that as setting SHR up for 2013. Not necessarily Borland being the CC for 2013.

The cars will be different in 2013 as well.

Honestly Schmoopy, Matt couldn't do any worse than Gibson. He's smart enough to figure things out very quickly! :D

When Ryan came to S/H I was thrilled. Then, I heard his crew chief was going to be Gibson. I knew Newman was a dead duck!

oh dont get me wrong. I am still happy Gibson is no longer the CC. Even if Ryan & Borland bomb the next 4 weeks, I will still be happy. We know what was gonna happen every week with TG as CC. Now we can atleast go back to having hope!

Hey, if nothing else, I think his chances of getting a pole in those races are much, much better. While Ryan said his 400 start doesn't mean anything, it's just a number, he did say his 50th pole was something he very much wanted.

Schmoop, part of the reason I believe Borland will be his crew chief next year is that the announcement was for 2013 changes. I believe if Borland wasn't going to be his cc next year, they would have stated something about that. There's really no reason to make the change now other than to get their chemistry going again. I really don't think Ryan would be as excited as he is if it was just for 4 races.

I'm choosing to see my Ryan cc glass full... Of Matt Borland
