As for Newman's potential crew, Zipadelli said the team currently is speaking with prospective crew chiefs and hopes to have an announcement as early as next week.
"[They've been together] four years, and we've either got to pick that program up or it's going to blow up,'' Zipadelli said, noting a change in personnel may help the No. 39 car, too. "I'm just trying to look at what's best for everything. We haven't made all the decisions yet, but I'm trying to get all the pieces to fall together pretty quick so we can move on."

They are a veteran group and Gibson's easygoing demeanor would work well with Patrick and the media spotlight. And Newman seems OK with the potential change. "I wouldn't say I would be upset," Newman said. "I think a lot of (Gibson) as a person. We've had success on the racetrack and we've struggled on the racetrack." Newman said if he could get his crew chief in before the end of the season, that would be beneficial but it would need to be most of the crew he'd be working with in 2013. That could be difficult as SHR needs to hire extra people for the addition of a car. "Nothing has been decided yet-we're just talking about different options and trying to evaluate how we can make our program better next year," team co-owner Tony Stewart said

He used to be on that show with Chad and seemed very knowledgeable. I wonder if he has a good relationship with him? Then again, new cars next year so almost anyone could be a crap shoot, within reason. I think they said we might hear something next week. I'm at least hoping for someone with a bit of spunk (as us old people would call it). Who knows, they could bring up someone from NW too, you never know...
