As for Newman's potential crew, Zipadelli said the team currently is speaking with prospective crew chiefs and hopes to have an announcement as early as next week.

& I guess Zippy sees what a lot of us see in the 39 team. here is another quote of his

"[They've been together] four years, and we've either got to pick that program up or it's going to blow up,'' Zipadelli said, noting a change in personnel may help the No. 39 car, too. "I'm just trying to look at what's best for everything. We haven't made all the decisions yet, but I'm trying to get all the pieces to fall together pretty quick so we can move on."

the rumor I read was tues they look like they are gonna mention something about sponsorship for ryan.

To me, that kinda translates to:

TG and his team are good but maybe not the right fit for Ryan since they're not improving.


Don't know that I exactly agree with that but Zippy knows a heck of a lot more about it than I do. Other teams do it all the time so I'm not sure why it's taken so long. Darian got kicked to the curb pretty easily...

They are a veteran group and Gibson's easygoing demeanor would work well with Patrick and the media spotlight. And Newman seems OK with the potential change. "I wouldn't say I would be upset," Newman said. "I think a lot of (Gibson) as a person. We've had success on the racetrack and we've struggled on the racetrack." If I were to read between the lines of saying the right things to the media. I'd say Ryan is looking forward to having a new CC (& possibly team)

"Bootie" Barker is my pick..... He's got the same degree as Ryan but from a different college. He understands stuff as TG probably had NO CLUE as to what Ryan was sayin' most of the time. BB is stuck with Casey Mears as of now. Dontcha think he'd LOVE callin' the shots for a good team?? I DO!

I love Bootie, but he's been with such underfunded teams for so long, I'm wondering what it might take for him to catch up. He used to be on that show with Chad and seemed very knowledgeable. I wonder if he has a good relationship with him? Then again, new cars next year so almost anyone could be a crap shoot, within reason. I think they said we might hear something next week. I'm at least hoping for someone with a bit of spunk (as us old people would call it). Who knows, they could bring up someone from NW too, you never know...
