Many teams struggled with car balance and Newman was holding down a top 20 spot most of the race. Yes I saw him get in the top 10 area but how long did that last? You had that usual feeling that Newman's race team was as lost as a baby in the woods watching Ryan get passed by car after car. But you hold on for hope that they might accidentally hit a balance Newman could be happy with. "I can dream can't I!"

You can look at the wreck any way you wish. Bottom line, it's a DNF!

I would like to announce my yearly,"Put a fork in em, their done." But, in Newman's post interview he assured all his fans he would give em #### at Richmond! I was immediately invigorated with an adrenalin rush of racing hope by his words!

Ryan's quote about Richmond sounds great, but all the desire in the world can't overcome a bad race car. It will all depend on what kind of car TG prepares for Ryan back at the shop this week and I don't have a good feeling about that.

But seriously, Ryan's just telling you what you want to hear. Our only hope is that Tony Gibson will be wearing a "blind fold" and listening to his I-POD during the race and just blindly call out car adjustments! I think it couldn't hurt.............

I really thought last years racing success with Team #14 would translate to Team #39 this year. That's what I get for thinking I guess........

All the talking heads are assuring everyone that everything is alright. It's all that PR automated gibberish Nascar guys learn to say. Things are NOT as we all know.

Hey Chevy 39......have you ever thought about writing a racing column....you are really good...so to the point and yet very funny.....a new hobby! You are a lot better than most of the NASCAR reporters we have now and they get paid..

When Tony went a couple laps down I switched to Ryan's scanner to see if he was having similar problems...... Ryan just said his car was evil and couldn't even describe what was wrong, so it was up to TG...then he was up to 9th place and driving it like he stole it..Great!! There was a glimmer of hope.....let's put it this way the 39 had some hope.........compared to the 14.... who couldn't find their way out of a coat closet with an organized search party...... Who knows what would have happened if Ryan hadn't been taken out

No doubt Ryan was poised for a better finish just before he got wrecked. TG needs to give him a better car to start with so that Ryan isn't just riding around in the middle of the pack where things not of his own making can take him out.

I know Tony was back there too, but he was just lucky not to get caught up in something. Ryan's "luck" just hasn't helped him this year.

Thanks Annalee, I appreciate that. I mix in the humor to hide from all the reality of Team #39. Some get it, some don't?

I miss listening to the Nascar scanner. You really get an understanding of what's going on.

That's the thing about wrecks in Nascar. The damage is not exclusive to the race car but to the entire race team and driver. And, all the "I'm sorry" from the guilty party is meaningless to a struggling race team. I know, that's racing as they say. Funny thing is, people love the wrecks......as long as it's not their favorite driver!

I will have to admit that I am guilty of that line of thinking. Long, green flag races are boring, IMO... but don't wreck my driver just to bring out the yellow and force another hair-raising restart!

I did feel bad for Truex when that last caution waved. The restart changed the whole outcome of the race.

one thing i learned is tony is about tony, he dumps grubb after winning a championship, works on his pit crew when they are not performing,( i am actually pulling for denny to win the championship this year, because it would be a big FU to the powers to be at SHR, and i like that!) but the 39 gets the hand me downs, im sure the 14 will have a sponsor before ryan, ryan has been nothing but loyal to SHR, and he still dont have a contract, when a month ago he was all smiles when asked about a contract, then yesterday he had nothing positive to say,

How can Newman possibly except the ineptitude of his race team? Are we missing something. Does he really feel his race team is getting the job done.

It has to be a legal/contractual problem possibly. We all are left in the dark with questions....that may never be answered!

Ate at the same Chinese restaurant Tuesday for lunch. It's one of those buffets with all kinds of stuff. Your often leary of the ones with no signs to describe the food?
