THE FAN APPRECIATION DAY I WAS REJECTED 2005!

I have attended the 2002-2005 Fan Appreciation Days to see Ryan and Krissie and most of Ryan's immediate family. But a problem occurred at the 2005.

In order to attend Ryan's Fan Days. You have to be a current Fan Club Member in good standing and you have to preregister so they can get a food head count. Well, my sister and I had planned on attending Ryan's 2005 Fan Day down in North Carolina. I made all the travel plans and hotel arrangements and thought I had preregister. Well, when my sister and I showed up at the event. They said I did NOT preregister and were not going to let me in to the event! You can imagine how I felt. All the money and the long travel from Ohio!

I stood there in shock. Are you kidding me, I can't enter the event? About that time Ryan's mother Diane recognized me and even she was hesitant about letting me enter too! I was thinking this was all over a food count and a supposed non preregister! I know darn well I registered for the event! About that time a big wig with Alltel came over and said,"Let them in." So my sister and I entered the event and there was Ryan over by a show car and he said,"What's the problem?" I then told Ryan about the situation and he told his handler,"Take care of those two!" Ryan must of remembered me from past Fan days I guess?

I come to find out later that Tim Vogel(Ryan's Fan Club site administrator) dropped the ball on my preregister entry. Tim was later fired by the way. I hope not my fault? I was so upset about the debacle I talked to Greg Newman(Ryan's father)about it too.

I will be honest with you. If Ryan would not of "made good" on the mess up. I would no longer be a Ryan Newman fan folks. I spent way to much money on that trip to be rejected. Kind of hurts your feelings and was a bit embarrassing. That was the last Fan Days I ever attended only because of the expense of the ordeal!

How would you of reacted?

Ok in all honesty I have to say
1. It ended well and is a great story
2. It was 7 years ago....I would hope so many wonderful things have happened to you between then and now

There were several reasons. Newman fever was fading for me between the constant bickering over the internet with some psychotic fellow Newman fans on Ryan's official site. They really upset me! Plus, the getting time off from my job and the expense.

Looking back it all seems so very trivial and beneath me letting total strangers upset me. Hey, I'm only human. I'm a pretty tough guy with thick skin but was vulnerable at that time due to some health issues. I guess I'm one of those who has a real hard time letting things go!

You often find over the internet people are much more likely to disappoint you because they have no emotion invested. It's just written words from a total stranger. It's all like a fantasy for most. Until you get to meet in person then that all changes for the better......or worse!

Those people on the Internet will always be idiots.....don't let them decide how you feel about Ryan! If you do then they have won! Ryan is a great driver, good person and great family man.....and that is all you need to think about.
